    New Mexico's one-gun carry provision?

I have read that New Mexico concealed weapon law limits the licensee to concealing a single handgun, no backups allowed. Looking at the "Concealed Handgun Carry Act" (NM statutes chapter 29, article 19), I didn't see anything there detailing this one-handgun limitation.

Either I overlooked the limitation or it's in another statute. Can any New Mexico residents shed light on this? Thanks for any help.

    Thanks, Gary.

Since anyone who can legally own a pistol can carry it loaded in a vehicle in New Mexico, I would think one could at least leave a back-up in his or her vehicle, if desired.

That IS sort of nuts, isn't it? Of course, I think it's completely idiotic that here in TN we can legally carry loaded firearms with a permit but automatic knives and other types of blades somehow makes us dangerous threats.

I carry Benchmade framelocks and axis locks, they serve me well but there are times that a good auto like the Microtec UDT or the Benchmade 9050 would be a whole lot more convenient.

There's just something about the wording of that statement...

Please don't tell us where you can conceal nunchucks with a KY permit.

The one gun i can deal with , what is idiotic is not being able to fill up gas at a convince store , or shop a wall mart without a felony . ( you cannot carry into anywhere that sells alochol in any form , be it a 12 pack at a gas station or shopping for fishing lures at wallmart .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

As a side note and I won't quote the law here but in Oklahoma the largest caliber you can carry is .45 I don’t think anything will ever be said as the 45 ACP is actually .451 I don’t make the laws I just keep people abreast of them. Have a Happy Easter everyone.

What about us visitors. We have no guns listed on our permit so we can carry as many as we want!!! Right?

When in New Mexico you must abide by New Mexico Law. One gun is all that is allowed.

Very recently the NM legislature passed a bill anulling the ban against carrying in establishments which sell alcohol for off-premises consumpion. Providing Govenor Richardson signs the bill (he has said in the past he would sign such a bill if it reached him) it goes into effect Jult 1st.

Of course stores can still post No Guns trespassing signs (144 sq inches) if they want. It will be interesting to see who does.

Thats good information. Now does a No Gun posting sign actually mean something in NM because in MN (reversed letters ) the business still has to ask you to leave just like they can if they don't post a sign.
