Guns in car question, ccw CT

Ok, after reading a few other posts I am confused on an issue. If I have a CT Pistol permit, can I keep a loaded handgun in my car?, let's say under the seat, or does it have to be on me in person at all times? statutes are confusing .-althought I've been told this is against common sense in other forums, lol but I more or less I am jus looking for legal advice just incase I should have to leave it in the car. thanks guys

As long as it is secure, (there are a number of ways to do it) there should be no problem leaving it in the car, at least in Texas. YLMV (your laws may vary)!

It is ok to do. See Connecticut General Statute 29-38, and 29-37i. Pretty much, it needs to be secured, and one must have a permit. Here's the link I found in the ATF site: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/statelaw...atf_p53005.pdf

The statutes are pretty vague (I think intentionally so) but there is nothing specifically prohibiting a handgun from being left in a vehicle. I also believe that it does not have to be secured in any way. The only way you can get into trouble is if a minor gets his or her hands on it. If it's determined that you should have known that that was a possibility, you would be in some trouble.

if you are in the car it is fine as you still maintain control of said gun (with-in reach), however if you leave the car why would you leave it loaded? Pull the ammo and then put it under the seat if you are comfortable leaving a deadly weapon attended for the taking.
If you want to take a great course on the laws in CT go to the Bridgeport shooting range and take their self defense and the law class.
