Nev.. agree with you. I call Homicide a show maybe because I am using the word in the wrong content. To me The First 48 is not a show but documentary series...and a darn good one.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

100% agree Nev. The First 48 is an outstanding show. And about 75% of the time they are right here in Memphis Tennessee. What a wonderful free bit of publicity the city gets almost every week!

If you like the show, you ought to read the book it's based on: Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon. Simon, a Baltimore Sun reporter, basically followed the Baltimore PD homicide unit for a full year and wrote a book about what the daily grind in homicide was like.

Already is partly this way. You need to pass a test in most states in your CCW class (at least to my knowledge). If you're not smart enough to pass the test, you won't be getting the permit.

Got the book after I saw the first season.... great great book. David Simon's style of writting reminds me a lot of Mark Bowden, the author of Blackhawk Down.

Well, it's not like those tests are on rocket surgery. You could probably train a monkey to pass them and that's how it should be.

Yeah, my bad, Sammy. Next time I'll either forgo the sarcasm or put in a footnote that I'm being sarcastic.

LOL!! Now that you mentioned, not much by himself but a tad separation from the others.

The hospitality business and guns is one huge conflict. Allegedly, not even guests (LEO excepted) are allowed to carry insinde the hotel yet, how the hell does the hotel find out that a guest has a gun? If the hotel is in a big hunting area, has a sizeable group of guests coming in to hunt and have those suspiciously long cases, do you send them away? (Answer: no, but you better have a secure room so the guests can leave their long guns under the supervision of Security. I did not dare to ask what if the guest refuses to leave his gun in the "secured" room and wants to keep it with him.)
One good thing is that any gun left behind should be considered Lost & Found and after 90 days is finder-keepers! And yes, people leave guns behind in hotels.
There was a lot that was left unsaid about guests with guns and I have the feeling that it was done on purpose so every hotel would adapt to every situation.

Along with a lot of other....um....personal items...shall we say?

I used to work security in a hotel/casino in Reno. A good friend of mine was the L&F director. When he would come out of his office with a grin we all knew he had something good turned in to him.

OK, I have to admit that Nevada has to have a lot more "interesting" things left than plain old South Florida....OK, with the exception of South Beach and I don't even want to think about that.
