McCain Backs Gun Rights After Shootings

Well, like him or hate him, John McCain has come down on the side of the second amendment pretty quickly after the VA Tech. mass shooting.

I have never been a big fan of McCain, feeling that he is a RINO but, this is something to think about when it comes time to pick a guy to run against Billery Clinton Inc.

Glad to hear it. I'm not sure that's his normal stance, is it?

Honestly, having never been a big McCain supporter, I don't know enough about his stance on many issues, this being one, to tell you one way or the other.

I just thought it was interesting that he is the only candidate that has come out solidly in favor or or against the 2A right after this shooting. All the other candidates have so far put out statements showing that they :stand with the family" and "grieve" with them. Feel good statements that do no one any good and show no leadership at all.

    God I hate politicians.

I was thinking it was good to hear but then - why is is I always have associated his name with Feinstein!

Excuse my cynicism but I have to wonder if this is genuine or spin driven! I want to celebrate that but can't.

Yeah, the amount of policy changing he's done lately, I wouldn't count on him for anything.

McCain lost alot of support when he ran against GW because he cam out infavor of gun registration, limiting and other issues. The NRA gave him a D if my memory serves me correctly.

I hold another issue against him, and have had the pleasure of telling him that to his face on two occasions. Funny thing, he remembered me the 2nd time we met after a year.

I really think his gun stuff in 2000 was just an attempt to look different than the front runner. I have disagreed with the man on many occasions, but he isn't a moron. He knows that law abiding citizens with guns is good for everyone.

Politicians can be very good at remembering people... its part of their job. They almost always remember people who have challenged when they are normally shielded from such stuff.
I have met a handful of high ranking politicans, each one that I actually had a conversation with and got to speak with a second time remembered me. All of them were about a sly and slick as one could be, even the ones I liked.
One even remembered my name, what I did and what we talked about.
That one scared me a little, I thought maybe he was going to send out his goon squad to make sure I was in a airplane crash, had a heart attack, shot myself with my left hand something or like that.

    McCain scares me.

He changes his position on issues more often than I change my underwear.

As I have said, I have never liked the man either. At least one of the things I have against him is most likely the same one that Fed_wif_a_sig has against him.

I too wonder what he will say about gun control a year from now once the furor of this shooting has died down and faded with time.
