Taking vacation; going from Florida to Maryland.

I'm going on a vacation with my family and we are going to Maryland. We live in Florida. As far as I know, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia are legal for me to carry in. South Carolina and Maryland I can't and the gun must be locked in trunk with ammo seperate. We will be going to Washington D.C. but I know I cannot even bring a gun there. I will be taking a bus back. Would there be a problem with putting my pistol in my luggage on the way back?

There shouldn't be as far as I know. I would make sure it is unloaded and in a locked case with the ammunition stored seperately. Just to cover yourself you should contact the bus company and find out what their policy is.

Find out what the policy of the bus company is. Federal law covers airline travel, but ground-based transportation can make its own rules. Amtrak bans the transport of all weapons, loaded or otherwise. This is probably because the weapons aren't secured in an inaccessible compartment for the duration of the journey.
