Well, out here on the west coast a vest could meen, photographer, fisherman, shotgun shooter, hunter, retired person, artist. Hoodys on the otherhand to some scream gangbanger.

As far as I am concerned I won't change. I have warn somekind of vest since I was in highschool and I would be lost without all those pockets.

The other reason I won't change my habits is if I did I would be suspect opf wrong doing by trying ot not be noticed.

Sometimes my vest is a cover garment sometimes it is under a coat or jacket. some times it is the only top I wear. (while fishing in the middle of the summer). I don't wear the vest to cover the gun, but wear it to carry extra survival items, food, medicine, mail, or whatever I have in my hand that I don't want to carry in the hand.
Wearing a vest keeps my hands free.

The only vest I will wear is for stopping bullets, the others just seem as goofy as a fanny pack.

The only vests I wear are the Smith Alexander ones.

They are more dressy and don't look tactical at all.

However, if I wore a 511 vest, I definitely would not change because of the VT tragedy.

I refuse to allow that little turd that much power over me.

Really? My vest doesn't seem to scream gun to anybody who doesn't recognise the brand. Even other shooters sometimes look surprised when I reach into the other concealment pocket and whip out a novel-size paperback.

Throw in the matching hat, (Henschel leather safari from villagehatshop.com ) and nobody has a clue that it's anything but a fashion statement.

In the summer(March-September) I normaly wear shorts down here in South Georgia and North Florida. A vest just doesn't look right. I wear a button down short sleeve shirt untucked. I'm 6'4" 245lbs. so I can hide just about anything at 4:00 stongside. I have stood in line at the stop-n-rob in a T-shirt and flip flops, packing a full size USP 45. with noOne the wiser.

kg5nrh, if I saw you I would think gun- whether others around you do or not. If I see a vest I think gun.

I think those stand out just as much as vests and fanny packs.

I wear polo shirts, and button down shirts either tucked or untucked depending on my surroundings.

Colder months depend, I might rock OWB, IWB or even a shoulder rig with various jackets, hoodies and heavy shirts.

They were probably more concerned that you were not wearing any pants.

I don't think people who lack the skill, should pretend to be fly fisherman.

Untucked, oversized polo's, t-shirts, and large Hawaii shirts for me.
    No vests for me!!
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

The only vest I have has my old gang colors on it (Blue Knights MD VIII) and as I am no longer affilliated I can't wear it anymore. For me it's the stylish leather fanny pack with my cell phone and other stuff in it. I do have some IWB holsters and some big shirts for warm weather and a shoulder rig for when its cool enough for a jacket.

Don't wear them. I'm not worried about the vest saying I'm wearing a gun, most people are oblivious. They just don't fit in with my surroundings, I've never seen anyone in person who was wearing one.

That and they just don't freaking make any that fit me.
