To all who have expressed their sympathy as well as those who may have wanted to but didn't or couldn't, my deepest thank you. I have passed along your condolences to everyone concerned and they are greatly appreciated by them as well.
On another note, the family was finally able to contact Jonathan's birth father this evening with the sad news. He is currently in Iraq with his National Guard unit, but he was reached via the Red Cross and will be able to make it home for the funeral this Thursday or Friday. Fortunately, he was able to see Jonathan about 2 months ago, just before he left for Iraq and Jonathan told him of his plans to become an EMT and to marry my niece. It's truly a shame that none of this will ever happen now, but he was happy at the time of his death and the last face he saw was that of the woman he wanted to marry.
