Senate Overrides Kansas Governor's Veto
The Kansas State Senate on Friday overrode Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' veto of a bill that prohibits cities and counties from enforcing local laws that negate statewide concealed-carry rules. The governor's veto of House Bill 2825 was overridden with a 30-10 Senate vote and a 98-26 vote by the House. The bill also prohibits businesses from designating their parking lots as gun-free zones. - From the NSSF BulletPoints newsletter

Great news. They need to pass this law here in Arizona. The idea that you can be terminated for having a firearm in your vehicle on company property is ridiculous. If the company doesn't like having employees that are legally allowed to have weapons, then they need to move to another state (or country).

I didn't do my research, shame on me [/edit]
The big effect is to keep cities from prohibiting carry in parks, hiking trails, public parking lots, etc. Some of them would have put up a fence around the entire municipality and made the whole city "gun free". The only thing that was stopping them was the cost of fencing.

This was a big win for everyone in Kansas. My employer posted their parking lots, and as soon as this law is published in the register, their stupid posting will be irrelevant.

Many cities were posting their "own" property even though it is "public" property. They did not like the CCW laws , so they made their own and the AG was too much of a weenie to tell them no!! Steve48
