Online Searchable Database of TN permit holders

    http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs....0201/705080371
This article has a link to an online searchable DB of TN permit holders.

The link to the database is http://data.tennessean.com/DB/dbc/ccwholder.php

It doesn't give the holders address but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to find out were a person lives. Especially when they dont have a common name.

I also emailed the article writer about the link.

I'm not happy about this of course but at least their DB was put together poorly ... my name isn't on it. You'd think after the recent stink with the Roanoke newspaper the numbnuts at the Tennessean would avoid this like the plague.

On the up side, hopefully we'll get the okay to carry in parks soon - not holding my breath though.

    Please contact this rag...

Well, I posted in the newspaper forum and sent the following email to the published staff contact list and a letter to the editor.

As you can see by my join date this topic is the only one I have or ever will post at this newspaper. I never knew where Tennessee was on the map before my arrival, courtesy of the US Army, some 16 years ago. After retiring I've come to believe itís a great place to live and raise a family.

I have a wonderful family, wife of 37 years, two grown sons and a granddaughter. I have never intentionally provoked someone or worked as a Law Enforcement Officer, yet my reality dictates the presence of those who would deny my family a life of happiness, joy, prosperity, etc... Do I fear those that would take this from me, no, but I respect their ability to do so.

Trouble is they do not respect my seriousness. Small things like denying me the ability to defend my family anywhere and making me a target by publishing my name only creates and/or reinforces an attitude of indifference to my seriousness. It does nothing to remove the threat.

I have a great life not by chance, but rather by choice. You see, I've chosen to defend it , not become offended by it.

(I'll never pick up this newspaper again and will discourage others)

    INTJ,

That is an outstanding letter. I shutter to think that this paper didn't learn from our misfortune thanks to the Roanoke Times.

I can't even get the last name page to load all the way after I type in a last name. Not that I'm complaining.

Seems like I recall the last time a similar idiot newspaper ran names, we (or another gun board) ended up splattering the names, addresses, and phone numbers everywhere of everybody on their staff so they knew what it was like to be violated?

    What were they thinking?

Why don't they publish a database of everyone who uses their Blackberry while driving on I-440 at 80 mph?

"Another bill that passed both houses would prevent the governor or any local official from rounding up weapons or limiting their sale or transport in a state of emergency or disaster."

That's the one I've been hoping to see pass. Any bets on what Phil B. will do?

Not if Bredesen vetoes it. In that case it'd have to have enough support in the Senate to override his veto in order to become law - nd I;m not sure if it does or not.

INTJ, I appreciate your enthusiasm, you've posted the same message in over ten threads now. But nothing is done until it's done, it's a legislative process.
