    Got made by mother-in-law...

The family and I took my Mother-in-law out for dinner at IHOP for Mother's day. When we hugged goodbye in the parking lot she hit my weapon and asked "what is that?" We are around each other quite abit and thought she should know, so I told her.

She then said "I'm sure glad...can I get one?" Is that cool or what? It was a relief. Being new to carrying, I wasnt sure how those closest to me would react, you know?

Now I guess Ill have to get her a pistol, after I get one for my wife!

You never really know how people will react when they find out you're carrying a loaded handgun. Some people may freak out, others may be curious, and seem interested themselves. Anyway, I'm happy everything turned out alright with you and your mother-in-law.

    Nice.

Now it's time to introduce you MIL to the joys (and responsibilty) of shooting by giving her some safety training followed by a trip to the range.

Get out to the gun shop and get her the weapon of her dreams...after all, she is your mother-in-law!

Well, intelligent folks all over the place are coming to realize that SHTF more and more. It's random and it's stupid. But it's real, and it cannot easily be avoided by either blind faith or disbelief. It can only be confronted. Glad to see she's got her head squarely screwed on. Very cool.

I'd be REAL careful before I told MY mother-in-law she should carry a gun.....but that is just me.......
It depends on how she feels about me at the time!!

Always good to have those in your immediate family not freak out!

Glad she has a sensible attitude towards being able to defend yourself and her daughter.

Hopefully she'll follow up on getting ccw herself.

My in-laws are English and think guns are evil and only power-crazed madmen own them. Sadly, I have little doubt as to how the conversation would go if I were to be found in a similar situation.

Isn't it good to have a cool Mom in Law? Mine is the same way.

    Congrats.

My MIL is cool around guns, doesn't carry but she's a good shot and owns a few.
My mom is English, she says it beaks her heart that I walk around 'like John Wayne'. Oh well, I've been breaking her heart since I was 13.
She'll come around if I ever have to defend myself and am successful.

Congrats, glad to hear that the MIL is on board. Mine is not so understanding. She had a really bad experience when she was a girl and now she is deathly afraid or firearms.

I actually disarm when I am in here home. We are not there often and it's really not worth the confrontation that may ensue.
