Can anyone explain to me how you can support the 2nd Amendment and the in the same breath infringe on the 2nd Amendment by banning scary looking guns???
Until he said that last night I was a pretty strong Romney supporter. As a result of that statement, he no longer has my vote.

    Ambitious.

Now, me? I'll settle for being the sole determiner (just for me).

And, yes, I did read the rest.

    Just sayin'.....

The 2A allows primarily for a the citizenry to have a means to kick out a tyrannical government. That means that the citizens should be allowed to have access to the same type of weapons as the military.

Now we all know we will never, and I mean never have access to 20mm & 30mm vulcan gatling guns shooting depleted uranium tipped rounds... but having assault weapons is the bare minimum an armed citizenry would need to accomplish kicking out a tyrannical government.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: determined citizens don't need 30mm cannons, tanks, aircraft carriers, or nukes to kick out a tyrannical government. Iraq is a great illustration of how hard it is to exert control over a population that doesn't want to submit to your rule. And there, it's only a minority of the population ("insurgents") that's resisting, yet they're able to seriously hold back the most powerful military in the world. The Afghans did the same when the USSR tried to invade them. Such large weapons are only useful in conventional warfare against a regular military, or (in the case of nukes) if you intend to completely wipe out the population. Both require the consent of the military to use. They're not useful in attempting to govern over people that you want to keep alive. The only way to do that is with a large military/police force in boots, on the ground, with small arms. And a force like that is highly vulnerable to citizens who resist with their own small arms or other weapons (home-made bombs, etc.).

He's the politician variant of the typical FUDD.

As long as his buddies and the gun club like it, and by that I mean, it has to have walnut stocks, deep blue and have winchester, remington or Ruger stamped on the side. Then it's acceptable.

Its the same bunch who believes all we need are hunting guns and old sixguns in the drawer for home defense.

I wasnt going to vote for him before, and Im not going to vote for him twice as much now.

....I remember the near fawning of Gov. Romney during the 2007 SHOT Show. He showed up in the company of Wayne LaPierre. I wonder of LaPierre threw his slippers at his TV when the Gov. said that.

It allows for much more than that. Being armed means so very much more than resisting a tyrannical governing group of my own citizens. On a day-to-day basis, one is far more likely to have to defend against a BG in a bad situation. It's original purpose? Not so limiting.

The only two candidates I gave a damn about going into this thing were Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee. I can comfortably say I still feel the same way. Having grown up in MA, while Romney was in office, let me just get this out there. There are Republicans, and there are New England Republicans. They're the purple, the blue that bled into the red. Take what you hear from any northeastern big name republican with a grain of salt. I wouldn't want Romney or Guilianni anywhere near my constitution.

Darn it, I thought someone started a thread about me. Oxymoron and all.

I'm glad to know that I don't have to worry about Romney in this next election. The blatant lie was refreshing in one sense, politicians always do this anyway yet we keep voting them into office. At least he was up with that.

My real question is this, with the election still like 18 months away why are they having debates now and why do we care what they are saying? Campaigns should not start until the January before the coming election, period. We are not paying the Senators, etc who want to be President to run for that office. They are getting paid to be a Senator.
