My gun and rig remain same - 226 ST in Eagle Defender. I resort however to various outer garments like vest or ultra thin shirt ....... both with enough length to be useful.
The vest is used most when biking and does not I think really draw much attention. Other final option if needed tho is R9 in cargo shorts large pocket.
I don't know If I would change with the season but right now I can not afford ($$$) to try that. I want to carry a .40 but do not have the money to pick up a second. I have a P3AT for when the .40 is too hard to conceal but I try to dress around it with light shirts over top. I may decide to add a very light undershirt to help keep sweat off my gun since I sweat in a freezer.
I did some the first year I carried, used the HK full size 45 in colder weather, jackets/sweaters made it easier to conceal; then went to the G30 for warmer weather.
Now I mostly carry the G30 year round IWB, but use a paddle holster while on long drives and when carrying around the house/on my property.
The HK resides in my tac vest holster most of the time as part of my bug out kit.
I found that my G30 could be carried IWB in warm weather with an untucked XXL tshirt or with my tuckable holster if I was needing to wear a shirt tucked in. Works for me year round.
I carry the exact same way no matter if it is winter (Cold as a well diggers butt) or summer (Hot as hot can be) here in the Memphis area. Glock 23 in a Blackhawk SERPA holster, spare magazine on weak hip in a kydex mag holder.
The only difference is, in winter, I wear a coat or jacket and in Summer, I open carry. Same gun, same holster, same location. No adjustment for different seasons. No complications in training.
Currently carrying G23 even though the weather is getting warmer in NY. Once I get my Kahr P40 back I will be carrying that until it gets cooler again.
Whichever firearm I carry, it is always located at 4 o'clock with a spare mag at 8 o'clock. This way there is no confusion should I need to draw my weapon.
I carry a Glock 23 at all times. I guess I can say I am changing for summer this year though- when I get the holster in the mail I'll be going to a Sig 226.
Its yet to be seen. I've carried a 642 for about 7 months. I have a XDSC40 that I'm training on and I'm waiting for my holster to carry it in. I do like to carry my 642 in the winter in a coat pocket if I know I'm not going to take off my coat.
I carry a Beretta 90-two, 9mm, in a Galco shoulder holster under a jacket/coat during late fall, winter, early spring. The rest of the year it's the HK USP compact, 9mm, owb under a large baseball type t-shirt. This combination works best for me with the hot, humid days in the south.
I haven't changed mode of carry until now, but I am reconsidering. Not all shorts have belt loops and wearing a belt without it being attached to the pants is kinda weird for me.
Which holster type do you use (Jackass, Miami Classic, or MCII)? I have been researching shoulder holsters and the Jackass type holster with the MCII mag carrier seems like a good setup since I don't really like the breaks on the Jackass and MC mag carriers.
I do not change my rig due to the temperature. I do change my setup due to how active I am. Such as going swimming (secured off body carry) or taking a long ride on my motorcycle (chest holster)
Occasionally if it's really a scorcher I'll drop the 1911 IWB and go to a snub IWB or pocket carry. Being in Florida a scorcher means pushing high 90's with associated humidity though.
I don't usually change based on temperature. I keep the same gear pretty much all year round with a 1911 IWB. I'm in VA so it's relatively mild weather most of the time...although we do get some nasty humidity(and associated genetically-mutated mosquitos from h3!!) sometimes and makes you wonder if the entire landmass of VA just up and moves to florida for mid-summer.:hand5:
I just really don't get it. It can be 110 with 80% humidity and I don't have to change. The Glock 23 conceals as well under a coat in the winter as it does in the summer with a t-shirt and shorts.
Nothing to gert. I have an extensive collection of .45's and I can't just pick one to carry. I shoot them all and any excuse I can get to carry a different one I will. Oh and I owned a glock and did not like the way my had fit it so I sold it but it was a versatile weapon.
I used to carry .45 in the winter and a 9mm when it was warmer. Now that I am in the south its just whatever I feel like that particular day.:biggrin2:
Same year round for me. The only thing that changes is cover garments. Sweatshirt in the winter, t-shirt in the summer. My G30 prints a little with a size large t-shirt, so I try to wear XL, but it's not an issue here in Ohio. It's not illegal if it's noticed, and most people are oblivious anyway, but I still try my best to keep it hidden.
Glock 23 Hume IWB if shirt, under jacket or fleece zip up or vest. Under loose t-shirt in summer. If not worried about printing too much I go with blade tech paddle holster. Four distinct seasons here. But I have every kind of holster imaginable. Kind of like my girlfriend has shoes....one for every outfit. HEHE
