This is a good article about gun ownership and crime. I am not familiar with this web site or the author so I can't speak to the relative veracity of the article. Hopefully it's accurate.
I lived in Zurich for a while, I like the Swiss and the lifestyle there. It is a 'virtually' crime free society due to the ownership of guns but also due to the majority of people not owning houses but living in apartments which have communal aspects - laundry, meetings, movie night in the lounge, etc. This makes a very strong sense of community.
The article states incorrectly that Switzerland does not have a drug problem, it might not register as one due to the very liberal laws on drug possession but there are more junkies in Zurich than in most similarly sized European cities.
Or at least there were, google 'needle park - Zurich'.
They say that when a car gets stolen in Switzerland it is retrieved the first time the thief (usually foreign and unaware) buys gas, the license plate number is sent by the Police to every gas station in the country and they look out for the stolen car, which is easy to do as it is so infrequent that the list probably only has one car on it at any given time.
