Help-traveling to Kansas
I'm needing help from the Kansas folks here.
I must go to Wichita next weekend and I'm needing to know the lowdown on me carrying. I do have my Texas chl.
With the new law for Kansas at the first of the year and all this talk about municipalities prohibiting CCW, I'm confused and want to know what I can and can't do.
Packing.org was no help, too outdated info.
Any info would be appreciated, links to websites too.
Thanks in advance.

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

The kansas legislature overrode the governor's veto on a bill that makes it impossible for municipal governments to set more strict gun laws. But, Wichita is an odd place, expect to see lots of posted places. And, as is typical of anti-gun places, the crime rate is a little high.

Bring your gun
Yes, as a Texas license holder, you can carry in Kansas. In fact, the first concealed carry shooting was by a Texas license holder back in January. He not only saved his own life, but that of the Topeka gas station owner being held at gunpoint. The law has now been changed and no city or county may override the state law regarding concealed carry, but individual businesses may post the "no handguns" graphical signs. Hope this helps.

Yup, things got a whole lot simpler here in Kansas after that latest - HB 2528 cleared things up. The preemption law is really clear now... cities can't do squat.
Still, be cautious in Wichita, they led the fight against concealed carry in Kansas. Lots of anti's there.

Unless you plan on going to a public library, schools, bar or a state/county building you are safe to carry anywhere in KS unless you see the no Beretta M92 signs. If you get pulled over you need to notify the LEO that you are a CCW holder and that you are armed. Other then that enjoy the Sunflower state. Can’t help you about Wichita, don’t go near the place.

No you don't. The law doesn't require that you divulge anything unless you are asked.

A while back I was working on a project and spent a month in Pittsburgh PA, on the door of the workplace was a Gunbuster sign that had a 1911 on it.
Had to step outside for a smoke break, got to know the 'regulars' out there pretty good. One day I commented to a security guard that it was a shame they didn't allow 1911's inside, maybe I should get a Glock.
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.
