I'd rather die than shoot anyone!

Oh dear me - once more I heard this, today. I have a hard job rationalizing such a statement.

I was in discussion with someone on the subject of self defence - brought on by a reference to some newspaper article they had read. I made the point that bad guys can be armed, have sometimes little respect for the lives of others and, will also have guns pretty much regardless of any gun controls.

When challenged, I said that I was simply going to work on the basis of - ''him or me'' .. seeing as I had at least some life left and family responsibilities etc. Why indeed should I sacrifice my life to some thug.!!!

They insisted however that they could never shoot or hurt anyone else - and would rather just ''take it''. Even my challenges to their family responsibilities - yielded nothing positive

So yes folks - these people exist ... and pretty obviously are NOT candidates for concealed carry!.

    It's amazing ....... truly. <still shaking head in disbelief>

Wow, that is taking, "Turn the other cheek" to the extreme. I don't understand how people can feel this way.

It is sad people feel that way. I bet they carry insurance on their cars and homes for protection. Wear their seat belts to say safe. Yet protecting themselves from violence seems wrong to them. I also don't get it.

I was suprised how many people feel that way in northern Az.! As for me, I will defend myself, let natural selection take it's course. I like P95's signature, it sums it up nicely!

It makes you wonder....wonder what they would really do in a VERY BAD situation. I bet some would rise to the ocassion and protect the gift of life...even if it is with something other than a firearm.

I wonder what life insurance companies would do it they found our that their policy holders had that mindset. Those people might want to read their insurance policy. In the casualty insurance field you are required to take necessary steps to prevent more damage. I wonder if a life insurance company could get away with not paying a claim by making the case that the insured did not take the proper steps to remain alive. Interesting concept.

That is the definition of a true sheep! It is really sad that people think so little of themselves and their loved ones that they would roll over and let the BG have his way! I fully intend to introduce him to any of a number of fast moving friends to ruin his day...

It'll never change. Thats what makes the world go round and keeps life interesting. Not a one of us on this forum would have an "easy go" of having to shoot anyone. We've just made the choice that its either them or us.
I believe the answer to change their way of thinking is to watch a family member or a friend be hurt, molested, tortured or killed. Its a denial thing "it wont happen to me".
Ive always believed in preventative medicine.

"Natural Selection" selects the one with traits better suited for survival. Are people who choose to carry therefore genetically superior?

Sounds good, but that would include the BG too?
