FBI report on increasing violent crime

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070531/...WSEJsnH9Ws0NUE

It will be more fuel to both sides of the gun issue when it finally comes out. The bottom line for us is two-fold, at least: 1.) Continue learning to effectively protect ourselves and family, and 2.) Get active in supporting our 2A rights by being vocal and backing those who can articulate our position in the arena of ideas (political, media, letters to editors, letters to representatives, etc.)

I dont doubt it...we are seeing an increase in violent crime here.

What you wont hear about because people are afraid to speak the truth is that the majoriy of it is coming from illegal aliens that are very bad people.

Wouldnt it be great if we could really hear about the truth once in awhile?

Instead, corrupt politicians use facts like these to limit even more of our freedom.

Some of it are the illegals and the other reason I heard is that the last batch of criminal offenders not covered by Three Strikes and Long Mandatory is coming out of jails.

Just more proof of two things..

One is...the world is getting crazier by the day...
    and the other is...

Now, more so than ever, one needs to carry a gun for protection...

We are seeing a spike in our area too. We had 6 people shot and killed in Memphis over the Memorial day weekend.

And sheeple wonder why we carry a gun for protection....

Lies, damn lies, and statistics. Is that an absolute count or a count per-capita? What was the population increase over the same period, if the FBI statistics are absolute numbers?

This is just another set of stats in an attempt to get more money, justify tax increases, justify more limits on our freedom, etc.

HotGuns is also spot-on with the illegal alien issue...

So where do you bet the violent crime increased the most? In the utopias of DC, NYC, et al where the enlightened have saved us from the evil of guns, or in 'shall issue' states?

I'll bet that crime in general on a national average has increased most in ex-burb and rural areas.
Reasons being due to drug related crimes (marijuana, meth, heroin, et. al.) and border state issues with illegals.

I heard a figure stating that a full third of the people in our prisons are illegal aliens.

Put them together with the increasing size of and activity of black gangs and white America is in trouble.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: black gangs exist because the mayors of big cities and the governors of states containing large populations of blacks will not do what needs to be done because they fear the political backlash of the black voters. Us whites foot the tax bill for all this nonsense. The cops love it because they get bigger and better toys with each crime surge, plus job security and more power.

How many will tie an increase in violence to an increase in handguns sold without even considering the economy? When people are broke, those already in the grey area do even more desperate things. Statistics are not all knowing.

A respected Epidemiologist some time ago linked the use of subway tokens to Heart disease. So ban subway tokens, right? Not hardly, he was making the point that sometimes the use of stats is skewed to whatever you want it to say, however ridiculous.

    Sam,

The fastest growing crime presence in America are latino gangs including specifically MS13 aka 'Mara Salvatrucha' which was originated in LA and is populated in America largely by hispanics, including some but not all illegals, from pretty much everywhere. They have essentially recreated the Italian mafia model from two generations ago which itself was a scourge and drain on tax payers and white people, and though greatly reduced from their heyday it still is.
This has been all over the news for the last ten years and especially so within the last 5. They are not only all over America and South America but now in Canada (!) too.

Crime, drugs, murder....they are into everything filling in vacuums left behind by the actual reduction of crime space of Black gangs thanks to their own attrition and criminal incarceration through out the 90s.
As well old school white gangs such as the mafia have been greatly reduced since their own heyday into the 80s again leaving a vacuum.

For more info on crime in current America or MS 13 run a query against as much in Google, or take a peek at this report via Newsweek.

They're a violent force in 33 states and counting. Inside the battle to police Mara Salvatrucha.

As to Black gangs in specific they don't have much in the way of political pull and it's well known that Blacks tend not to vote as it is based on reports of voting records nevermind that a disproportionate amount of Blacks have criminal backgrounds that prevent them from being eligible to do so anyway. The Black vote is minor unless you happen to live in a traditionally Black district of which are relatively few nationwide. Even in my own hometown of Washington, D.C. which has long been traditionally Black the actual voter numbers and race spread (Black, white, and now the huge & fastly growing there hispanic presence) do not match the population spread.

White America is in trouble indeed along with the rest of America of which a third are minorities of every race and creed. The majority of those are law abiding citizens and we all are subject to the results of the modern crime trade which today at the end of the day is as based on results color blind and sees we generally law abiding most often tax paying and sometimes voting citizens as well as itself in a singular monochromatic hue of green.

"There is no "typical" gang...Like a cancer, gangs are spreading to communities across America. For example, MS-13 was born in Los Angeles, but has spread across 33 states and four foreign countries...There are now over 30,000 gangs across America, and over 800,000 gang members." - Robert S. Mueller III, Director, FBI on January 18, 2007

"A Justice Department study released earlier this month of 18 cities and suburban regions indicates youth violence, gangs and gun crime largely are to blame for the increasing rates. "

Youth violence, OK that is acceptable. Gangs, not a big surprise there. "Gun crime", those evil guns again. Who let them loose on an unsuspecting public? Guns don't commit crimes folks. The aforementioned youth and gangs which are really one-in-the same can commit crimes but a gun is simply a tool not a cause. We have to get this term, "gun violence" out of our vocabulary.
