Gun Show Shooting
Man accidentally shot in hand at local high-caliber gun show
05:47 PM CDT on Saturday, June 2, 2007
From 11 News staff reports
A man was injured at a gun show Saturday when a gun accidentally discharged.
The incident occurred at a high-caliber gun and knife show at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Apparently the man was holding the weapon when it went off, shooting him in the hand.
The show runs through Sunday.

Wanna bet it was at the door showing the local PD that it was unloaded?
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

Actually one of the other news stations reported that he didn't claim the weapon at the door.
I was there before the incident, they had the 30.06 and someone at the door announcing that all weapons had to be checked before entering the show.
Kinda hard to miss.

*** is a "high caliber" gun show? The adjective is meaningless and completely gratuituous.
Just more MSM subliminal anti-gun crap.

"High Caliber" is the company which sponsers the gun show.

Nonetheless, the way the moniker was applied by the press makes the gun show sound more ominous.
First off, the promoter's name is not really germane so why even use their name.
Second, if the newspaper felt the promoter should be mentioned, the headline would have been far less yellow had it been writter as "Man accidentally shot in hand at local gun show promoted by High Caliber Gunshows". This way the high caliber is clearly a noun not a sensationalist adjective.

Got to get those press people some education so they can learn to express themselves better. That had to be embarrassing to the guy who got shot. Was this a 30-06 rifle? This should be almost impossible to happen.

30.06 is the statute that details the wording and size of the sign that should be displayed by a property owner if they wish to ban carrying of concealed weapons on their property. No firearms signs hve no legal meaning unless they follow the criteria detailed in this statute.
The sign is therefore usually reffered to as a '30.06'. It's a big sign by the way. Letters at least one inch high. Two languages.

If it did-not much hand would be left, unless it was his right (rimshot)

More info on gun show shooting. I read more info.about the accidental shooting. The gun was supposed to be a Glock. The injured party had brought the gun into the show as a ccw gun and did not have it checked at the door. He must have been playing with it and pulled on the trigger. I'm just glad the shooting only involved him.

He may not have a CHL for a little while now. 5 years I believe if convicted of a misdemeanor (disregarding the 30.06 sign).
I guess it will all hinge on if the '30.06' sign met all the criteria specified in the statute. (The last time I went to this particular gun show, the sign did not actually meet the criteria).

Well, I guess I have to make sure the wife doesn't see the news tonight or the paper in the morning. I was supposed to go there today and got tied up so I am going tomorrow. I am taking a couple of items to see about playing " lets make a deal!" and if she heard about this she would just freak!
