To tell, or not to tell?
This is a discussion on To tell, or not to tell? within the Concealed Carry Issues & Discussions forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; This is a slightly different slant, and may have been covered earlier; if so, sorry for the repeat.
I don't have my "book" with me ...

I don't have my "book" with me to double check, but I think in OK, you're REQUIRED by law to tell someone you're carrying ... IF you're riding in their vehicle.
Even so, if it comes down to needing your weapon, then you're responsible for the outcome anyway, and would accept responsibility for not telling the vehicle owner (which would likely be minor compared to the responsibility you accepted when you shot someone).

I really don't see any point or value in telling people you carry. Perhaps if you're in some gun related business, there might be a reason.
It defeats a good part of the whole point.
I am, however, working on a CCW badge for myself. Probably going to pin it to my Safepacker.

other than my wife, there might be one or two other people who even have a clue i carry, and my wife never even really knows when i DO carry.
why don't i tell anyone else? to paraphrase sun tzu, "when weak, appear strong; when strong, appear weak."

I say that if you tell, where is the concealment in it?

I only have few friends who know I carry and only because they are shooting buddies. My girlfriend knows although she doesnt like it. I just can't hide it from her most of the time. Except for my cousin, no one in my family knows that I carry. They just wouldnt get it. I think my sister has some inkling about it but she hastn seen me do it and I havent told her.
I agree with most of the posts here. It seems silly for many people to know about it. People not know makes it so you dont have to argue about it and explain yourself to them (family mostly).
And besides, most people just don't get it.
What they don't know won't hurt me.
Benjamin Franklin once said, "he that would supplant a little liberty for a little safety deserves neither".

I frequently discuss Concealed Carry but very rarely let it be known that I am carrying, then only to select people.
