In FL, the policies are left up to each school.
At my school, the campus police regulate parking, and as a part of the parking agreement you must follow security rules and others.
The security rules are no weapons or firearms allowed on campus property. Hence, no guns in your car in the parking lot or you will face expulsion for violating the campus security policy. I don't think it would be criminally punishable as it only violates campus security rules and not statue, but I wouldn't want to risk it. Secondly, even if you don't end up in jail, your educational career is over.
I leave my gun at the house on school days and pray that I don't need them. At least the campus cops are armed. All five of them.
QUOTE: "No license issued pursuant to this section shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile"
This part of the statue (I think) means you can carry pepper spray or mace or a stun gun, but no tazers or firearms.
