Applied today...
I went and got my new IN driver's license, and then immediately headed down to the sheriff's office to apply for my CCW permit.
An hour later, my application is on the way to the state!
Man does it feel good to live in a free state at last! And the lady who helped me with the application said it could take up to 5 months to get my permit... but after I've got it, it's good for life!!!
Woo HOO!!! I'm so excited, I can't even put it into words.

Congrats, i know that feeling. I moved from NJ to FL and was amazed at how easy it was to get a CCW. It took 2 weeks with the electronic prints.

That's great news Jim - wasn't even sure initially re how fast you could get the DL done.
Hopefully now you won't have to wait over long then it's all done and dusted. Amazing eh (and sad) just how different things can be between some states.

Congrats! Do you still have to renew your license every few years?

Maybe if you order a holster now you'll get it about the time your permit arrives.

Congrats...
on both the 'smart move', and the new permit...
I like the idea of a permit for life...

kahman,
No. After I get my permit, I'm set for life, assuming I never move out of IN.

That's nice not having to renew. I received mine in the mail exactly 45 days after I submitted but I'd gladly wait 5 months for one I didn't have to renew, lol.

Just wondering... Is Indiana the only state with a lifetime CCW permit?
