My vacation time this summer will include a couple of nights camping in both a national park and a national forest.
I have seen comments go by saying you can carry in one, but not in the other, etc, etc. Can someone provide links or other resources that would spell out the laws? I am interested checking into the specifics before I go.

Go to Handgunlaw.us and click on Nationwide off limits A-N and/or M-W and all states are listed with the info about National Forests, State Parks, etc. Carry in National Parks is forbidden and the firearm must be unloaded and stowed.
NP = No carry and no loaded guns.
NF = should be governed by state laws. A fair few actually have shooting ranges in them. In VA some have ranges and allow hunting as well.

I called the rangers station in Skykomish and they said you can open carry. Can't shoot near camp sites. Also called north cascades national park, and spoke to a LEO. He said you can't carry open or concealed on the trail system. But if your just driving through and you have a CCW. It's OK just stay on the main Highway. He was very pro gun and polite to me. In Mt Rainer park no fire arms. Or any National park for the matter. National forest its ok just not near trails or campsites. Remember to clean up if you plan to shoot. Y'know, Gary, I feel like an idiot. :embarassed: I have used your site so many times for state issues and have referred many people there. I have no explanation for why I didn't think to look there for the national stuff.:confused:

Washington is one of the best states for CC. Absolute minimal restrictions.:biggrin2:
I have seen (and I think participated in) some of the threads. For this thread, I was trying to get a link to the specific sites or referred to the specific place to get the information directly. I couldn't find that in the threads I read through; although I did find a link directly to the NPS in one of them after I posted this thanks to your search words.Quote:
