I thank God for everyday I live

It's been over a year since my encounter with the drunk dude that had the huge hunting knife. Now everytime I come home, I thank God for allowing me to live, and I'm especially thankful for everyday that I can bring my gun home in the same condition that it was in when I left the house. Too many people take their daily lives for granted, and don't realize that at anytime, and anyplace, they could die.

I still have nightmares from my encounter last year too, and I am glad my state government has allowed me the right to defend myself and my loved ones from scumbags. My friends think I'm a coward for carrying a gun around, but they get no pity from me when they find themselves in a really bad situation where retreating or hand to hand fighting isn't an option.

I personally think it would be wise to be thankful for everyday you're able to come home and see your family.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts on this matter.

In germany we do not have the right to defend ourselves against knive attacks, although they are rare they most often end in death. I wish that I could carry a handgun concealed and never have anyone know about it.

Keep up the Profession work *g*

People who disrespected me that way would not remain friends for much longer.

    Good riddance.

How in the world could having the ability to defend yourself be twisted into being a coward? I believe it is just the opposite.Chuck.

Too few appreciate just how good it is to come home alive.
You are in good company, my friend.

    Spydie,

I don't know the story behind your comments.
Would you mind sharing it, or point me to the thread where you have already shared?

    Thanks.

spyderdude thanks for sharing your story and we are all glad you made it out alive.

As for your friends just know they are sheep and they are doing what sheep do, refusing to take responsibility for their own safety, and fearing those that do.

    Stay safe.

Without Spyder's experience (fortunately) I still anyways celebrate and give thanks for each day - much is down to feeling and being older but I can certainly understand how his experience does at very least ''sharpen'' that appreciation of every day.

Amen Spydie. Like the song says "live like you were dying", because we all are dying. Every day brings us closer to the end. Do you know for sure where you are going when the end is here???? There is a book to help you find a way to get where you want to be. It does not have to be my interpretation nor anyone else's, read it for yourself and interpret if yourself. Enough said.

    Exactly! ^^

Spyderdude please don't take this the wrong way but, your "friends" are not your friends because friends don't want anything but the best for their friends. Are you a coward as well for wearing your seatbelt, buying cars with airbags & ABS, having health, dental, and life insurances or having smoke detectors in your home?
I believe these friends of yours are morons, and they do not respect you or your difference of opinion/position from their own. :(

You might have them, and yourself, take a read of this posting at the blog of fellow member 'Betty' who is not cowardly...

Real Friends aren't judgemental they would accept you and your decisions without fault. They may question or inquire your decision but it is your own choice and lifestyle.
