I also wasn't sure. On another board someone posted what they sent and I just changed the words to suit how I write and add things about where I live, etc. They do need your mailing address as this confirms you are really in their territory.

    Dear Rep. Simpson:

Greetings from a fellow Jackson, MI resident. I am writing regarding HB 4759, which was introduced by Rep. Daniel Acciavatti on May 15, 2007. The bill would allow individuals licensed to carry concealed handguns to carry anywhere in the State, without restriction, by eliminating so-called "pistol free zones" under current law.

It is evident based upon recent events that these "pistol free zones" (which includes universities, daycare centers, hospitals, etc.) are more and more commonly becoming stages for violence. This is the case because criminals fully understand that victims in these locations will likely be defenseless. By decreasing this likelihood, HB 4759 will give criminals targeting these areas pause and let innocent women and men protect themselves.

I am asking that you support HB 4759 when the time comes.

    Sincerely

    Xxxxx Xxxxxx

I asked them to support both bills , since MI law abiding citizens deserve to be able to protect themselves and loved ones anywhere in the state.

I called in mine. Faster and more personal. It won't amount to a hill of beans but at least I can say I tried. The no bar thing is the WORST. I would rather they say you can't drink at all than make you wonder if Champps gets 51% or 49% of its revenue from alcohol.

I also don't mind the sporting event prohibition...not going to protest it but carrying a gun into Ford Field is about as bad of an idea as carrying a gun onto a commercial airplane (althought I know some advocate both). I would like it if they had lockers, though, so I could carry to the city, to the gates, and then lock it up. Sometimes getting from the dirt parking lots to the stadium is the most dangerous part of my week.

seeing that a democrat supports these bills is good!

What we need is one of these anti reps to get mugged in one of the "defenseless victim zones", they would change their mind really quick. (just kidding on the mugging I don't like to see anyone a victim of crime but it would just prove the point of how stupid it is to have "zones" like this)

If enough people contact their reps we might see this pass.

    just an update:

My Rep (Hansen) (R) wrote back to my email saying that he believes in gun rights. I pressed him for a reply as how his vote would go if these bills came to a vote and he wrote back a one word answer "SUPPORT"

if you havn't e-mailed your rep yet nows the time!
