I'm sorry if this has been discussed to death, but I'm relatively new to this forum and haven't seen it discussed before.
Why in this day and age of so many anti's, the Brady Bill, the Assault Weapons Ban, etc., did so many states enact CCW Shall Issue laws in the past 20 years? Believe me, I'm not complaining! But if you look at the Right To Carry History link on http://www.handgunlaw.us you can see that only 6 other states had Shall Issue before Florida enacted it in 1987. Many (14) of the newer Shall Issue states became that way during the Clinton years.
According to handgunlaw.us, as of today there are 2 No Issue states, 11 May Issue states (but Hawaii, NJ, and MD are de facto No Issue), 35 Shall Issue, and 2 Unrestricted.
I'm not too optimistic about the holdout states, but I hope this trend continues into more reciprocity among the ones who do respect the 2nd Amendment!
