Need Help Ohio'ns!!!
ok well this is mainly for ohioans but can be for anyone...
A really close friend at work is leaving her 5 kids dad, and while attempting to do so peacefully, he is wanting to play games with her. He has been threatening her at work (they work together) and is saying he is going to catch her out and hurt her... Well she was talking to me about it and I asked her if she had her Concealed Permit from OH and she said no, but is thinking about it now. I explained that it would be a good thing for her to have just in case, not only for him but for anyone.
But I told her I would check into if it is legal in OH to carry pepper spray w/o a permit, or if you have to have a permit. I cant find it anywhere??

YES!!!!
She can arm herself with OC RIGHT NOW!!! No stupid permits.
Also, she needs to apply for a Temporary Concealed Handgun License ASAP!

Actually, she would go the the Sheriff's Dept. in the county in which she lives, and get a temporary emergency license. Once she's got that, she needs to get signed up for a CCW class, so she can get a regular CHL.
What county does she live in?
And yes, she can carry pepper spray legally in Ohio.

She can do that in a neighboring county as well. Correct?

In addition to what everyone has stated above, I would start creating whatever law enforcement paper trail she can...restraining orders, police reports, etc. Not because these things are effective at preventing a potential assault, of course, but because they create legal paperwork which may prove helpful if, heaven forbid, anything does happen.

Make sure you do some research before getting a restraining order. I don't know for sure in Ohio, but some places won't issue a CCW if you have an RO out on someone or if there is one out on you. This may be some thing that can be done in tandem with the Temp carry license. I may be completely mistaken also, but check on it first.

All great advice as to how she can protect herself. The only thing I would be seriously concerned about is the restraining order part. I've heard from several sources that those are often gas on the flame. I'm no expert, but I've heard it from enough bright people that I would get some good advice on that one - first. Regardless, she needs to be able to protect herself immediately and I'd pursue all of those other methods NOW.

Good advice! Thanks for clarifying!
