    A backhanded compliment, at best.

Yes, but atleast he is an anti that has been partially swayed.
Some of that argument would have come from opponents of the law, like me. I could see nothing but potential trouble from encouraging thousands of citizens to hide and carry little handguns with no purpose except to shoot other human beings.

    ...

Improper gun use still is a problem, but conceal-carry is not.

Kind of dispels the 'wild west' myth.

Columbia is a very far left community. Home of Univiersity of Missouri. I was kind of surprised that no provisions for readers comments to that article.

    On another note:
Individuals of known terrorist ties have lived in Columbia and believed to have had an al Quada cell there at one time. A Columbia resident once secured a Satellite Phone and spare batteries and charger for it that went to Osama Bin Laden. IIRC, the batteries and charger was sent in a separate shipment was delivered to Bin Laden when CBS reporters met Bin Laden in Afghanistan and interviewed him.

It was a big issue in Ramsay Yousef's trial after the first WTC bombing in '93. Sleepy lil ol Columbia, MO. in the middle of the Heartland.

True. It does appear that a liberal brain is struggling to engage in rational thought.

A partial step, but a step nonetheless. I'm afraid that I'd fall into his "excessive ownership" category, though.

It's going to take baby steps.

agreed it will take baby steps...that's the way that we lost a lot of our rights and that is going to be the only way to get them back...can't expect to win the war with one battle. It might be a backhanded compliment but it is a publisher saying "hey maybe guns aren't that bad after all"...it's a small step but it's certainly better than the typical "all guns are evil" junk we get enough of.

I have no idea why Mr Waters would write this, as he is 100% anti-gun. Columbia is the far, far, far left.

I wonder what he would have said if there had been a significant DE-crease in violent crime in MO.

He would have said that it was a random change with no way to correlate it to CCW.

The only thing that antis deserve is to be the victim of violent crime. It seems that is the only way most of them learn. Some don't even learn that way.
