While not perfect, it is better than going completely nekked (weapons wise).
I do have my gun with me. I don't disarm until going over the bridge to Ill-annoy. I don't think there's been a time I didn't cuss out loud while locking up my gun.

It's tough to cross over into Illinois, but family is there. It is a deterrent from visiting. After driving 5 hours away from home, I really like quick access to a firearm. While in Illinois the gun is not carried CCW, but as soon as I'm back in Missouri, you better bet it's right beside me.

    I feel your pain.

My In-laws live in Canada which is a no carry country. I hate to drive up there because I can't carry on the trip from Alabama to the Border.

If you're going to carry a piece of threaded galvanized pipe for a weapon, be sure to have a tool bag with plumbers wrench, some pipe dope and other obvious supplies or tools of the trade.

See it's all about having a reason for carrying what you are carrying!

And, if you carry a Mag-lite.... Make sure it works... (always hit with the butt, so you don't break the bulb...)

Like a baseball bat, only easily carried.

Or are they illegal in IL too?

Hmmm. Interesting. Some didn't actually say rather they would or wouldn't, you're the first. I'm not saying it's this way with you, but I'm sure this could come down to how close someone is with their family. I'm very close to my family, so nothing would come in the way of me visiting them , even though I don't like having to disarm.

It is perfectly legal to carry on private property, (your home or place of business). HOWEVER, In IL, you MUST have a FOID card, (Firearm Owner Identification), to even posess any firearm. No non-resident FOID either. If I were you, I'd leave it home or take a chance on jail time if you are discovered. Of course if you are a criminal, no problem! IL tends to make things difficult only for law-abiding citizens. Good Luck!

Those are illegal most places. I have one, but I can carry one legally.
