    Hawaii

It looks like I may be transfered to Hawaii, and my first thing was to check out the carry laws, WOW, what a state.

Does anyone know anything about getting a permit there? I'm a DOD contractor working for the government, will that help?

I think you'd have better luck moving to Kalifornia.

In Hawaii, it is "allowed", but as I hear, it NEVER HAPPENS.

    Question Would that be DynCorp?

If being a DOD contractor influences anything I'd be interested to know the specifics as I is one.

This is probably not really true, but it was once said something to the effect that there were only two permits issued in Honolulu...one to the mayor, and one to the police chief's wife (or sister)...that was it.

I BELIEVE one was issued to the police amorer/gunsmith (civilian) and gov son. Could be wrong.

The State is a MAY Issue, especially if you're connected. When Mas Ayoob held a class there, they would not grant him an LEO courtesy.

    Gotta love those guys!

Oh yeah-you gotta register EVERY gun entering the State within a few days of getting there-no exceptions for Military. No pistol mags over 10rds, includes AR mags cause it fits the SP-1 pistol (which is banned there as well).

HI. will NOT issue a CHP to you. I lived there for 6yrs. and the people I knew who even asked about a CHP were met with what was discribed as just short of hostility. You can own them but you house is about the only place you can have it. There was only one public range there while I was stationed on Ohau, if I remember correctly.

It's just not a very gun friendly state at all.

If DOG The Bounty Hunter does not have one then you can't have one either.

Buy a large size OC Spray and have a custom "DOG" leather holster made for it.

On a serious note. Nope, you will not get a license to carry in Hawaii.

Dog is a felon. he can't even own a gun, let alone carry one.

    Hawaii gun laws

QKShooter: even OC Spray is not legal in Hawaii.
(My guess is that all the guys on Dawg's Bounty Hunters staff are carrying tv 'props'.)

As far as permits go, although it is a 'may issue" state, it is at the discretion of each County's Police Chief, and none are approved.
There is a pact with all of the Chief's, to deny all applications.

The only two that I know of, are for the Governor, and the vendor that supplies the State's Police Dept.s with their firearms.

Every person that I know that has applied, including myself, were turned down.

There was even an elderly, jewelry store owner that was attacked in a parking lot, after closing her store in Waikiki one night. She was badly beaten and robbed, and almost died because of her injuries. She was denied a permit because she showed "insufficient cause" to warrant carrying a firearm!

It makes you wonder: Just how close to dead do you have to be, to justify defending yourself?
Always remember: 3 can keep a secret, if 2 are dead!

Maybe those in power there in Hawaii are part of a satanic pact that truly hopes every human being becomes the victim of murder, and wish to facilitate it by making sure no one can legally be armed.

Not trying to "hijack" the thread, but how is HI in regards to LEO's carrying there on vacation?
As far as obtaining a CCW. You will have more luck winning the Lotto tomorrow night, even if you didn't buy a ticket. There are two CCW Permits issued, that I am aware of. One is to the "civilian" armorer and the other was issued to the Asst. States Attorney. The Sister In Law of the Chief of Police had one, but when the media found out she was forced to give it back. I may be slightly off on who had the permits, but I think you get the idea. It has been years since I even thought of CCW and HI.
