Americans Call For Gun Freedom
BBC News
In the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre, many Americans have been campaigning for permission to carry guns in more places. "Imagine you are in a restaurant and a mad man is walking around from table to table, pointing a gun, taking aim and pulling the trigger, going to the next person, taking aim, pulling the trigger and so on," says Suzanna Hupp.

Chris as I said in another thread and I believe it. Soon there will be more permit holders than non-permit holders. I for one have had enough.

You and a great many others Ben ... that's a fact. I would like to see a ground swell and sea change happen - but hard to know if it'll actually bear fruit at all.
How many wake-up calls are needed is what I always wonder.

Unfortunately, to British readers the article is probably further proof (to them) that we are crazy over here.

Some/most...
But my brother and his wife are in the INS/CIS waiting list to come here, the moment he gets here he will be armed, at his and my insistence.
Some Brits are the same as you all, they just have different accents and somewhat different dental work.

Don't care what they think. Look what they have done to their own country. The article makes sense to me.

Haven't you been converted to a good Southerner yet? It's "y'all" if you want to blend in

First job I had here was working for a Canadian crew doing stone... they called the locals 'you alls' - it kind of stuck, I still can't say y'all.

Your dental work cannot be worse than mine.
For that matter, I don't think any Brit's teeth surpass in homeliness the teeth of of people in the States who have lived or were immediately descended from people who have lived in mountainous, rural areas.

This is the most cogent point that could possibly have been made about this. Nice work!

Not a ground swell here but I am currently in my second month waiting on my OK ccw as a result of the VT shootings. I have also convinced several others of the need to be able to defend themselves and others if necessary. This is my first post but I've been lurking for a while. Just thought that I would let you know that we are waking up.

There are more European emigrants here than you might realize that came to this country because of the attitude towards self-defense in Europe. I know a few here in my area who came here from the UK and one who came here from Italy.
It is a shame that the prevailing liberal idiotic views in Europe have made every law abiding citizen (or subject) in Europe a ready made victim and turned their countries into giant welfare states. Sooner or later, I believe Europe will collapse under it's own weight.

Half of my Family is from Scotland.
Now that Scotland is starting to gain its independence from century's of English bloody rule, Scotland may get its own constitution.
And hopefully, the right to defend oneself WITH a firearm will be written in it.
