Illinois Residents with other state CCW permits

Are Utah and Florida the only states that allow out of state permits? I live in Illinois, and although I would not be permitted to conceal in Illinois, I would like a permit to allow me to carry when I travel. Also, is there an advantage to have one state over another? I appreciate hearing from anyone who can help!

I live in Missouri but have a Maine permit. I went to maine when my city played games with the law and since my state honors all states permits. I would say Florida and Utah honors the most states for travel.

You can mail order for a Centre County PA permit. I've got one of those and a Utah permit. Seems to give me a lot of coverage especially for all of the boarder states that I visit.

Lancaster County, PA has a great turn around time as well. I got my Resident permit in less than 8 days and I heard of non residents takings as little as 2 weeks.

When I applied for my non-resident PA permit, they required a copy of my home-state permit. Wonder how that would work if they don't issue permits?

    1. A photo copy of a license to carry a firearm (concealed carry permit) from your home state if that state has a concealed carry law.

I guess if your state does not allow carry, all you need is your drivers license.

Yeah, I just included a photo copy of my driver's license. I don't remember if I included my FOID card or not, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

I don't get it?!?! Why would you need multiple states?

The only reason I got the Utah permit is because the PA permit is flimsy and looks like it could easily fall apart if you carried it around a lot. I usually leave the PA permit at home and keep the Utah one in my wallet at all times.

Some state have reciprocal agreements with other states, for instance My Texas CHL is good in 39 states the last time I counted but it is not good in Ohio. Now the Florida permit is honored in Ohio so if I wanted to add one more state that I could carry in I would get the Florida permit. Utah is good in some state that Texas is not I think it was Washington State, so again if I wanted more coverage I would get that permit.

That is why some people would want more than one!

I'm pretty sure the only state my PA permit gets me that Utah does not is PA itself. So I really don't NEED 2. But having 2 is fun.

Got the NV before the reciprocity bill passed.

I'm in Hellinois and have the PA CCL.

Sent a copy of my FOID and DL - got it in 8 days!

Covers some of the states I go to for work so it worked ok for me.

    Take care -
