We have had threads on this subj before and I have just found some facts and thought I'd pass them along.
We have about 95000 residents and a ccw permit rate of 1.5%. A low % I think; however, that 95,000 includes about 10,000 active duty military/dependants, it also includes civilian children as well.
The Sheriff is pro-gun and pro-carry I guess with a gun in the gun rack of your pickup, no need to get a permit.

The San Antonio metro area has about a 1% rate of CHL holders. I recently looked at the figures by ZIP code. Most ZIPs were around average. Some of the lower income areas were as low as 0.5%. Interestingly, two of the highest percentage ZIPs were Ft Sam Houston and Brooks AFB. Both were about 3%, yet both are Federal installations and prohibit concealed carry.

The county where I live, and the county where I work, were both 1% last year, if I remember correctly. It may have been just NEW permits though.
