I live in upstate NY and would like to apply for a Florida Non-Resident CCW permit.
Does anyone know if it's possible for me to be issued one from Florida and what kind of hoops would I have to jump through?

yes you can be issued one...do you have a cert from a safety course, DD214, hunter safety, etc? ...that some fingerprints, photos, and a check are about all you need (along with the application of course)
costs 117??
request an application here:

yes it is, Go to handgunlawusa and look under non res permits. It will give you a web sight for you to request an app and all paperwork, get 2 of each. You will need to be finger printed, submitt a firearms safety class proof (hunter training , dod214 if prior service. and 107 dollars I believe. I got mine just trying to find the time to get it together
Just remember it's worthless in NY.

I too live in Upstate NY and I am glad I found this post since I am interested in the same topic. Does anyone know how long the process takes? It took me 4 months to receive my NY permit.
I just got my packet in the mail from FL and that was about a week (if that) after submitting the request online. On the paperwork here it says 6-8 weeks is how long it takes using the fingerprint card, and if you use the electronic fingerprint system is should be only 2-4 weeks. The only ones who can do the electronic submissions are Florida Sherriff's offices, and if there are any problems you have to resubmit from the same office you originally were printed at.

NO! you can't get a non-resident permit from Florida, 'cause Florida doesn't issue "non" resident permits. They are all the same, only your address will differ. The only thing you'll have to do thats at variance with a Florida resident is to re submit your prints when you renew in five years. Other than that the issuance process is quite simple and efficient.
Issue time, from what I've been told from non state residents, is running anywhere from 75 to the full 90..........depends on how quickly the background returns happen I'm told.
I will be down in florida mutiple times over the next few months. Thank. you for the help
Hi I'm om NYC and Have my Florida CCW. It took 63 days mailbox to mailbox.
I just e-mailed Florida for the application forms.
where are all of you upstate NY people located? I'm in Rochester area and shoot out of GCL...
I got my Florida permit back to me in Va. in less than 30 days & that was with a standard finger print card not electronic........................................ ...DF1
The FL permit is great. When I renew, I have always mailed prints in and they are very efficient.
I am stationed here in sunny Panama City and I am a resident of MN. All it took was a proof of firearm training, fingerprints (electronic $35), check for $75(moneyorder), passport ID(wallgreens $7) and the paperwork. My address is my MN on the CCL. It took less then 10 days and I recieved on the friday before my 21st Bday. Talk about cool.
