VCDL and Norfolk - Havin Some Fun With The Police
I was reading a thread about a guy who open carried in Norfolk and was arrested. There are lots of threads (and rightfully so) which criticize the cops. I think you can make a point without getting arrested (hopefully).
Rather than show up in droves at the City Council meeting, why don't you try this one - and tell the news media beforehand that you're challenging the ordinance at an upcoming festival. Heck - why not tell the cops too?
Ask everyone you know to attend a festival. Ask them to open carry, but instead of sidearms, have them wear an Airsoft or some nonfunctional pistol. The cops will see what they think are weapons, and they'll act accordingly. Rather than take the bait and respond - stay completely silent.
The cops will be busy harassing people, and the cameras will be there to catch it all. Cheaper than defending a weapons charge, and you've made your point with a little bit of pizzazz.
The only downside is whether VA has a law about simulated weapons.
It'll probably never happen, but its fun to think about the cops going nuts checking out everyone who's carrying.

I can't get off on the idea of making the cops get excited just for the fun of it. If you want to set up a test case then go ahead and open carry, have your attorney present, know the law, and notify the media. But to play cat and mouse games with the cops just strikes me as a bit juvenile. They have enough problems as it is.

Apparently not, if the OP in the other thread is any indication.

The thread in question is running here: http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...ad.php?t=29301
As a whole there are a lot of comments on Police being spread to thin, not responding fast enough etc. etc. around here.
Why would you want to stress them out even more and have them tied up on a media event rather than doing their job? I don't think that's a very good idea.

The idea might seem ''fun'' but yeah - not IMO a responsible thing to consider let alone do!
I think we'll close the gates on it now ....... and leave it as just daydream material!
