Carry permit back in 2 days

I had let my permit expire in '04, so about 2 weeks ago I went to the probate judges office and filled out the application. As i was leaving to go to the sheriffs dept. to be fingerprinted I asked the secretary how long was the usual turnaround time, I was sort of shocked when she said about a week. 2 days later the sheriffs office called and said everything was ready.

My rural county in NE Georgia might be slow on some things, but they weren't with my permit!

Nice! My AZ permit only took 5 business days. It's good to see these turn around times getting shorter and shorter :)

    That's not fair!

    They must be getting slow.....

My first permit was about 25 years ago and I walked out with it about 15 minutes after I entered and submitted my application.

I just wish things were still that quick.

Went to the sheriff's office in Luzerne County, PA (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area) a few weeks ago to put an end to the "FL Non-res Permit: Good in PA Or Not" question and received a 5-year permit on the spot for $31...And "Hey" from VT!

Expect it to take a little longer. My wife and I waited 35 days for ours to arrive. We live in Shelby County.

The best turn around time I ever saw or heard of was when we lived in Mobile Alabama. The sheriffs Office there too 20 minutes to do the whole process.

We walked in, gave them our $20. Filled out a form with our info, they did the background check (took about 15 minutes), took our photo with a digital camera like at the DMV office and printed out the permit and handed it to us.

I am not kidding, it took 20 minutes from start to us walking out the door with our still warm permits in our hands.

I really miss that about Alabama. What I do not miss is the hurricanes, but the permit process was fantastic!

Heh, maybe they're just afraid that angry people will come in a-rootin' and a-tootin' and a-shootin', demanding to know what's takin' so derned long!

What's fantastic is that a government agency near you seems to appreciate that your life depends on it. Kudos to them. Congrats!
