Received Carry Permit Today....Need to Finalize Accessories

Well, today I picked up my carry permit - all told just under one month to get (here in NE PA).

Now I need to just do all the accessory finalizing....getting holsters (a Desantis Nemesis first as it should work fine w/ both my 642 and MK9), new grips for the 642 (either wood boots or wood w/ tyler t-grip), and running some HP rounds through the Kahr (so far 150 FMJ without a hitch).

I never realized how much work this would be!!

Regardless, I'm happy to finally have a permit, and look forward to carrying at any time I feel the need to do so.

A big congrats on the permit. Now you'll need to work on your drawer full of holsters.
It is alot of work, And you never stop gaining knowledge..I did spend alot of money while waiting for my permit too( and after and still going ). Two new guns, grips, holsters, lots and lots of ammo, extra magazines, new clothes. But to me it's $$ well spent.
    Good luck and congrats.

Don't forget to invest in your training; that's the most important accessory.

Congratulations on your permit. You should carry whenever and wherever it is legal. It does not matter whether you feel the need, you need to be prepared (and armed) when the need arises.

And that can be anywhere at any time.

Congrats - I'll also echo the training aspect - get as much as you can.

Also too yeah - carry all times legal .. your mention of the word ''need'' is referencing an indeterminate quantity - no one knows or can know when they might ''need'' - and Murphy will usually make darned sure that the day of need is when you thought there was no need

Very good point about training, as that is something I want to go through. I just need to find something relatively close in the area.

Good luck on the training. They offer nothing here in my town. I've looked in Nashville (2 1/2 hours away) and have had no luck there either. All i find are ccw classes.

    D-Man

Your quote "I never realized how much work this would be" Is some-one making you walk to the store, 10 mile trip uphill both ways? You must be approaching this wrong, because what you are doing should be some of the most enjoyable parts of the carry process.

Your other quote "look forward to carrying at any time I feel the need" If you are feeling the need maybe you should avoid what it was you were going to do.

Welcome to the wonderful world of carry. Nice to have you on board.

    Carry responsibly carry proud

At the risk of sounding redounded. How do you know when you will need a handgun?? Ah, the extras, can be frustrating and fun. but, as said, money well spent.

What took so long to get your permit? I live in Pa also and it was only a matter of going to the courthouse, filling out the paper work and waiting a few minutes to process. That was around seven years ago though, maybe the process has changed.
Congrats on the permit though......."feel the need" Always!!
