    RV and handguns

Sorry people but I have used the search engine. I'm traveling to an airstream rally from Oh. to Michigan and need to know if they honor my permit. Also is it up to the private campground if I can bring my firearm in. Thankyou Robert

I'd try looking for info on http://www.handgunlaw.us/

Even so that may well not answer the question re the campground. I'd imagine they have some sorta terms of service ... maybe they have a website?

I think you will be ok. Michigan has reciprocity with Ohio. And for the private campground there is no law saying you cant take it there.

Just for the record, before I carried at work (self-employed shop-keeper) and before I carried at the Walmart parking lot ( a danger zone around here), I was packing when I took my travel trailer to campgrounds. I have heard too many tales from other campers about being victimized in a place where "everybody trusts everybody else".

If you don't show it, they won't know it.

    Carry on, Cannon

Check www.ohioccw.org for reciprocity lists and CPZ listings in Ohio
    www.mcrgo.org in MI.

When we retire my wife and I will probably get an RV and travel around the US. I've given some thought about traveling through some of the states that are anti-gun regarding laws, etc. Since they can't guarantee our safety and they don't want me to be armed, then they don't need us as visitors, or my money, I'll just avoid them and go somewhere else. I'm definitely not sleeping in an unknown campground in a tin box unarmed.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

    MI Campground carry

    Check out this page:

    http://www.handgunlaw.us/

    and this one:

    http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7...0947--,00.html

    and this one:

I would also highly recommend contacting the campsites county Sheriff and/or prosecutor to see if they interpret campgrounds as falling into any of the 10 areas (Sporting? Entertainment?) in which Michigan bans carry. This is the easiest way to avoid ruining your trip! Also, is the campground owned by a church? If so, does the church allow carry?

Campgrounds are OK for CCW.Michigan is a Castle Doctrine state and a RV is viewed as a home.As long as you have a CCW you can have a pistol in the vehicle or on your person legally. Note that Michigan only issues a CPL (concealed pistol license) not a concealed weapons permit. Long guns, knives or non lethal weapons are covered under different statutes and long guns generally need to be locked away from vehicle occupants and unloaded while transported.A parked and occupied RV is treated as your home and you can have a loaded long gun on ready for defense. Chuck.

Believe it or not here in the PRC your RV is your "domicile" when you are travelling and you are therefore protected by the California Homeowner's Bill of Rights. That is to say, if somebody, other than an immediate family member, breaks into your RV you are legally presumed to be in fear of losing your life or suffering great bodily harm, in other words, open fire.

I have a MI ccw and I agree with the other posts. You are legal in MI. As far as rv parks go, in over 5 yrs of traveling the US full timing in a motor home, I've never seen a private park posted. And even if they were I would still be loaded and ready to fire. My motor home is my home. My house has 8 wheels!

By the way, we're now in your state, Mansfield, going to Pittsburgh area tomorrow

    God bless,

    Larry
