A Sorry Event

So Saturday night, my wife and I, decide to go out to dinner. We head to Macaroni Grille in Springfield, VA. As per VA law I open carry and we have a wonderful dinner with no problems as is usual.

After dinner we decide to go and throw some darts. We head over to Fast Eddie's also in Springfield, VA. Again as per law I am open carrying. We show our IDs at the door and head on in. We order some iced tea and I get the darts. At that point we start playing darts and are about half way through the game when the bouncer walks up to me and says "I hope your working." I said "What?" At this point he states that I may not lawfully wear a pistol and asks if I am a LEO. I respond by informing him that I can lawfully open carry in an restuarant that serves alcohol so long as I open carry and that no I am not law enforcement. He now tells me to put the pistol in my car or leave. I opt to leave.

I take the darts back to the bartender who is perplexed that I am returning the darts after just 5 minutes and I tell him that the bouncer is thowing my wife and I out because I am carrying a pistol. One of the other employees at the bar starts to incorrectly tell me law to which I correct and counter with "Do you think criminals care about your no gun policy?" I do not get a responce to which I add "Since your bouncer does not seem to be able to notice an open carried pistol for over five minutes, will you be providing security and are you willing to lay down your life to defend my wife and my lives?" He states he would not and at this point we leave.

It is really sorry when you can't have a nice night out with your wife without the "short-bus" crowd ruining it. Like I am going to leave my personal security in the hands of a bouncer who took over five minutes to notice an open carried pistol.

that aint right.I am in Indiana and have a CCW and am glad I can carry concealed for just THAT reason.its none of anyone elses buisiness if or why I carry,I just do ALL the time.can you get a CCW there?I don't know the law there but DO if you can.

And everyone else seems to think they know the law but are usually way off base. They love to quote the law to you but they apparently have never acctually read it. That's why I CC in Minnesota even though I could open carry. Too many know-it-alls out there to butt into your life.

Yeah VA has CHP and I have one, but under VA law you are not allowed to carry concealed in a restuarant that serves alcohol for onsite consumption. You have to leave it in your car or carry openly. I choose not to leave a gun in my car so to abide the the letter of the law I must open carry.

In IN you are lucky you can carry in alcohol serving locations. We are trying our damnedest to get the law changed here in VA, with the normal anti-gun outcries of blood in the streets, wild wild west, and alcohol and guns do not mix. It is the same damned story everywhere yet it never happens and politikos just never seem to wise up.

I am going to NH in a few weeks and I am glad that I can carry concealed when I go out to eat and that only courthouses are off limits to me with my permit. NH in fact has the least restrictions of any state in the union on where you can carry. Live Free or Die! Gotta love NH.

Oh I forgot one little gem in my description of the event. The bouncer stated that no guns were allowed because this isn't the OK Corral. Yes he actually said that. Can you beleive that?

This is why concealed carry is much better. No one knows/ no one can hassle ya. Better to suprise everyone if ya ever need your pistol than let em all know before hand.

Bouncers aren't typically hired for their ability to engage in such topics as "String Theory"....you only get that in the movies....ala "Road House" !
