    Wife yields to CCW

It took an unfortunate incident in my wifes' extended family to garner her full support for my permit and gun purchase.

This past Friday in a small town in Utah her cousins husband was shot four times at point blank range for what appears to be no reason. While the assailants parents where checking into the lodge owned by the victim, the young man walked and and fired four times. While standing over the body of the victim taunting the father knocked his soon down with a board or some other object. Police were able to apprehend the assailant.

The victim is alive after one round through the neck and three in the torso, but he is now paralyzied for life. The round through the neck severed his spine. He is the father of six children.

My wife argued prior to this that in small town Utah we did not need to worry about violent attacks.

After receiving the news from her mother, she approached me, asking me to get my handgun and permit.

Unfortunatly, many of you predicted that it would take such a sad event that struck close enough to her, before she would change her opinion on concealed carry.

I pray for him and his family, and despite their sorrow and hardship, I thank the Lord for the blessing of my wife's full support, it. It has taken a long time to gain her support. In their trials, I am blessed.

If you are willing, please pray for him and his family.

I hate it when you hear the stories of not accepting the reality until something bad happens to those you know and love.

Get her setup with a CCW, let her find a pistol, and make sure she is well trained.

    Keep her safe!!!!!!

Too bad it took such a tragic event for her to see the need for self protection. Prayers sent for her cousin's husband.

I have this conversation with my wife all of the time. She says she doesn't need it because we work and live in a quite area. I tell her that's what everyone says until it's too late.

She doesn't want one for herself. Guess it didnt hit hard enough. Just enough for her to be okay with me carrying. I will keep work with her though.

If at all possible, Maybe ask her to visit here and post a time or two, there are a buch of women on here that I'm sure would be more than happy to e-chat with her about any questions or concerns.

Cornered Cat is a pretty good site for the ladies also, and hosted by one of the afore mentioned women of D.C.

Congrats on the acceptance, and good luck with the rest.

I talk about this with my wife all of the time. She just doesn't see the need for CCW. I tell her and others that the people that are hurt or killed on a daily basis were not expecting it. If they were they would have been somewhere else.

i am praying for this gentleman and his family, may God guide them through this time in there lives. An interesting thought to share with her may be that this should serve as some kind of tool for all involved. If all that people want is bad to come out of it , that is all they will get. He who does not learn from the past tends to repeat it. being more afraid is never the answer. Gain strength from it and use it . Easier said than done I know but anyhow may God bless you and yours.

Bad news for sure...added to prayer list...

At least the wife accepting the use of a firearm as an important SD tactic...may save some other soul from such a fate...

Our prayers are with you and we hope for the best. It seems like one of those senseless things that we hear about too often. A carry gun might have helped. It is a wonder more people were not killed.
