I am needing to travel to SC. for a fews days on business next month and I hold a GA CCW permit which is not honored in SC. Since is down where would I find the laws that I need to be aware of for SC. I have looked around the web and have not been able to find anything definitive. Any suggestions or directions?

They are correct GA is not honored by SC. Also SC does not honor any non resident permits. I live in GA and in the same boat. I was going to get a TN non resident - but found out it would do me no good. Keep it locked and the ammo seperated and your good to travel through - but that is it.

Carrying of handguns in a vehicle.

SECTION 1. Section 16-23-20(9) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 294 of 2004, is further amended to read:

"(9) a person in a vehicle if the handgun is:

    (a) secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle; however, this item is not violated if the glove compartment, console, or trunk is opened in the presence of a law enforcement officer for the sole purpose of retrieving a driver's license, registration, or proof of insurance; or

    (b) concealed on or about his person, and he has a valid concealed weapons permit pursuant to the provisions of Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23;"

    Hope this helps.

I keep hearing that SC is going to losen up the restrictions on which permits they recognize. I wish they'd hurry. The inlaws live in SC and life stinks trying to visit them.
