    My CHL has arrived!!!!!!!

Not a bad wait. I applied May 13th, so less than a month, with an out of state background check.
    I'm going to Walmart.
Seems strange, going out in public with a gun, knowing I'm legal.
Wow. From anti to gun toting. What a long, strange trip it's been. 'Course, the gun-toting part wouldn't have taken as long, if I hadn't been in CA for so long.
I'm very nervous. And excited. Kinda tingly.
Let's see, don't fuss with the weapon and my cover garment, no bending at the waist, use the knees instead, any other suggestions?

    Congrats man!!!

I wish I could get my CCW..but in NJ it's almost impossible to get. I'm still waiting on my pistol purchasing permit, and as soon as I finish school I'm moving out of state (at least to PA).

Goodluck. and remember, the more often you carry it, the less you're gonna notice it's there unless you need it.

    Good job!

I felt odd the first few days, (I went to Freddies for my first trip).
In some ways the odd feeling is good becuase it keeps your awareness up.

Make sure you have somebody check your cover garment the first few times out incase you are printing. I love my wool Filson vest, its great for the PNW, except on days like today..

Now it feels odd not have a gun.

Congrads!...and so fast ! It's a good feeling. The more you wear it, the less you'll realize it's even there. I wear mine at home, and last year totally forgot I had it on - went to Wal-mart and the Vets wearing only a tucked in T shirt. Strictly a no-no in Texas, and I could have lost my permit because of the oversight. Shows how used to it you'll become. Enjoy your right.

    Good news!

Indeed, I'll all but guarantee (assuming you adopt 16/7 carry) it will not be long before you 'll go out feeling nekkid, if it ain't there!

Thanks! I'm always shocked when somebody recognizes it.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. I plan on 25/7 carry. I've waited for a carry permit for years now. It's quite a relief, I'll tell you.

I thought so, but it's also the name of a Native American author, so I didn't mention it. Whereabouts you located? Shoot me a PM, if you don't mind.

Congratulations on the new permit. WalMart is a good place to practice carrying. It's the first place I went....

Fjolnirsson, Congrats sir. Can't walk in your shoes --- BUT---I can pretty much guarantee you that the more that you carry the more that you will feel at ease. Pretty soon you wont even know that it's there. Also the situational awearness will be different to you and a select few around you. I sometimes go all day and not actually think about the weapon on my belt or in my vest. I have found that I can do this and still be completely aware of my surroundings. Also, the more you train the more at ease/comfortable you will become.-------
