Just remember some airlines require the pistol goes in its case inside one piece of luggage, the ammo in its box in another piece of checked luggage. I misunderstood how my airline worded this clause and found out the hard way and ended up checking in a bag I had intended as carry-on. You could also pop by a gun store when you get to FL. There are plenty of guys on the board from FL and might give you some places you could grab some ammo.

Thanks for all your help. I just got back from Naples. I flew from Baltimore to Ft Meyers and then back. I took two handguns, a glock 23 and a XD9, no issues at all. I kept my ammo, 2 boxes in the original boxes and just taped the ends shut and wrapped them up in a t-shirt. No problem. Easier than I thought.
