    Wait times for permits?

I live in WV(Berkeley County) and am going this week to drop off the stuff for the permit. Am wondering how long this typically takes. I'm also wondering about possibly trying for some of these PITA permits(like NJ and MD) since I travel from WV to NJ quite often. Also, what's the turnaround across the nation for other states?

    Welcome!

I can't speak for Berkeley County as I live in Wood, but when I applied for mine, they immediately set up an "appointment" at a specific time two weeks later. They only schedule appointments on Tuesdays. I suspect this is to give them time to conduct the background check.

When I showed at my appointment, they gave me my permit and I gave them my money and we were done.

Perhaps they scedule appointment if they need to have a discussion pertaining to the background check. Then again, they might schedule them to keep from having a bunch of people show up at one time...

I'm in Boone County, and Im here to tell you not to expect it back for at least a month. I've never seen it move any faster than three weeks.

Mine expires Dec. 10, and Im going to file a renewal next week, just to be sure.

NJ doesn't issue non-resident carry permits. They rarely issue resident carry permits.

Kansas says it takes 60 days and that is about what it ran for me 58 days. A friend in another county took right at 60 days.

NJ and MD are about as anti gun as you can get I get the feeling that if they could manage it they would round up every gun in those states. Then build a dome over each of the the states with metal detectors at every entry point to keep any guns from coming into their territories. If they can figure out how to do that then Washington DC, and NY city will be building domes next.

I was reading a snippet of a movement for a federal concealed carry law, something that states that if you have CC in one state, then go into another it would be like having a CC in that state(their laws apply). Anyone know about this and what do you think the chances are this succeeds?

I have lived in Braxton and Harrison. First issue was in Braxton, application to receipt was 9 days. Transferred in Harrison...2 days, reapplication after expiration, next day. Moved back to Braxton...transferred from Harrison, same day. It probably helped that i knew the Sheriff and/or his secretary personally in both cases, though.

At first this sounds good. But, the flip side of the Feds "regulating" CCW is they could pass an across the board law making it illegal in all states. I feel better about the Florida legislature handling this than the US Congress (especially since it is now controlled by the Dems) For example, the amendment that Feinstein tried to slip in making it illegal to possess a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school (which would even include driving by a school that was less than 1,000 feet from the road).
