idiot CCL parent at the Middle School bus stop

I'm posting this here because the mom is reported being a FL CCL holder.

Story is two groups of kids walking home from school begin teasing each other. One child is upset and mom, who arrives to pick up junior, becomes irate with the other kids and brandishes her pistol, waves it around, and wants to know if anyone else (the children) have anything else to say. Mom is arrested for brandshing a gun in a threatning manner around other kids.

We, as responsible, licensed carriers, surely DO NOT need this kind of idiot walking around with a weapon. I've been carrying while listening to stories of school yard 'drama' from my children and NEVER thought to do something like that. This is the cannon fodder the "anti's" need to sway those riding the fence and place "us" in a not good light.

So here's the question: Have ya'll heard of or seen irresponsible behavior by individuals later identified as "CCL" holders and if so, what was the local backlash of that incedent?

My SIL who is a leo in a nearby large city has, according to him, had all good encounters with CCL folks. On traffic stops the folks inform him about their ccw, and tell him where it is, as they are required to. He doesn't have a problem with it, as he says the ones he's especially worried about are the ones that are ccw and DON'T have a permit ! amen

He told me about only one problem, and it was about a guy that was out-of-state, they stopped for DUI, the guy was beligerent, smart-a**, making a scene, etc and he was ccw. Of course he was arrested, and probably can't ccw anymore.

The lady you described must have been a bit dumb, fueled by emotion. The guy I described was dumb, fueled by booze.

Yes, she was acting like an idiot. Yes, she gave gun owners a bad name.

The chance that she would shoot any of those kids? Perhaps if it was a Glock, with that kind of ignorance she would probably have her finger clutched onto the trigger while waving it. But not intentionally, I don't think so.

Lots of people drive like idiots and endanger people all the time with their cars, but as long as they don't drive too fast (despite endangering other people) they're in the clear. But as soon as an evil gun enters the picture, we're talking about bans, being dead afraid of having CCL permit 'privileges' taken away, etc.. It's sick.

That woman shouldn't be permitted to carry a squirt-gun! I trust the local authorities see to it that she NEVER owns/carries another firearm. To me, her actions are much more "substantial" than some Domestic Violence accusation. And it only takes the accusation (not conviction) of Domestic Violence to lose Gun Ownership Rights.

    Agreed.

Individual persons with motorcycle licenses do stupid dangerous stunts like this on public roads...

...Which many of us have seen either IRL or on the news and in YouTube type videos yet no one is calling for a ban of motorcycles or of the applicable operators license.

This woman was a buffoon, a singular and as relative to the entire population rare case.
Likely she has some sort of emotional or mental disorder as well which affects her ability to think clearly and/or apply reason toward her judgement.

She is an idiot. She does not need a permit to carry and if she has one, it should be revoked.

That would make her one of the less than 1% of 1% of the permit holders to get it taken away. Even with the rare fool like this among us, we are still the single most law abiding group in the entire country.

Doctors kill more people each year, vastly more in fact, than permit holders are forced to. No one is calling for Doctors to be banned.

Anti gun types take things out of context and make mountains out of ant hills. If I kicked my dog for some reason, they would point to that and say "See! People like that have permits to carry hidden guns! And that is why we should out law handguns!".

I agree with what everyone else said, and wanted to add that she just compounded her kids problem 10 fold as well.

    TN Mike.

She does need a permit to carry. Apparently she has one since the Sheriff's spokesman said it was legal for her to carry. The police report stated she pulled a gun from under her shirt. Without a permit it would not have been legal to conceal. She is part of that dumb 1%.

Wow. A parent who actually believes that threat of murder is a worthy step to take? There are all sorts of folks walking around, these days.

I strongly disagree. That's a classification system with humans as the judges of class membership, and that's playing with fire when we consider a Constitutional assurance such as the 2A. Murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, mayhem, incitement to riot, brandishing a firearm, intimidation. There are a whole host of actual crimes on tap, for those who choose to step into the abyss. (In other words, Vermont has it right.) Denial of the right of citizens to have the means to defend themselves isn't the method we should be using, IMO. Revocation of one's right to walk the streets (aka jail), have such a large bank account (aka fines), keep the privilege of citizenship ... those are the tools that should be employed. Not nanny steps.

The percentage of legally Licensed To Carry permit holders that ever get themselves into any sort of hot water by doing dumb things is incredibly low.
Probably a fraction of one percent.

But, there will always be moronic type idiots in this world.

Careful here. Some psychiatrists have already done some 'testing' which claims that 'conservatives' are less intelligent than 'liberals.' Soon, all it would take would be to be a member of some conservative group (NRA, GOA, etc.) to be unable to get a license.

There's a "stupidity" test at all times, of course, and it's clearly known ahead of time: criminal acts.
