An example of the anti's flawed logic. We all know that crime is a result of law abiding citizens owning guns and that criminals won't buy guns if the law says not to.

    You mean that wasn't satire?

The main problem is that the antis are unable to think logically. As others have explained, criminals do not obey gun laws so enacting gun laws will not reduce crime. And, as we know, guns in the hands of law abiding citizens not only reduce crime but provide for personal defense. Not to mention it a right GUARANTEED by the Constitution.

The illogic of the antis is most notable in New York. New York enacted strict gun control laws and crime went down. Gun grabbers stupidly thought it was causal when, in fact, it was coincidental. Crime went down in New York because of ENFORCING the existing crime laws. No one can know how much LOWER the crime rate would be had they not prohibited law abiding citizens from protecting themselves.

Another view I read about regarding the decline in crime, I think it was in the book "Freakonomics", attributes the decline in crime to Roe vs. Wade. I think the theory makes sense.

The theory was that economically disadvanted women had abortions which removed a lot of future criminals from the environment. In the book, they said Rudy was taking credit for something that would have happened anyway.

What they need to do in Philly.....

Is start going into those neighborhoods, and fix people like you fix dogs and cats. Then, In about 20 years or so, the problem will disappear as they begin to die off. Then, we can bulldoze the urban blight and develop the properties, move in law-abiding citizens and everybody will be happy. Their problem is with people, pure and simple. They could learn a lot from the example of Rudy Giuliani. While I disagree with Rudy's views on RKBA, I do agree with his approach to cleaning up the city of New York.

The idea that poor women breed criminals is truly messed up.

In the book, they said Rudy was taking credit for something that would have happened anyway.
Probably the same people that thought that Reagan had nothing to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Only intellectual midgets go to cnn for news, it's purely propaganda, and most know it. There's a reason their ratings are in the cellar.
The problem as expressed in this forum is that there are alot of idiots that don't think for themselves, they just get the soundbites from liberal mainstream media.

Yep, all the same old tired nonsense.
"A well-educated electorate, being necessary to the continuance of a free state, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed."
Is this hard to understand? Then why does it get unintelligible to some people when 5 little words are changed?

    My Response to Anderson

    Keeping them honest in Philly?

You were had. Anybody familiar with Pennsylvania knows that the City of Philadelphia is disfunctional and in total denial. They told you only what they wanted to hear, and you fell for it.

For example, a visit to the http://www.psp.state.pa.us/psp/lib/p...006_County.pdf site would indicate that Philadelphia county issued for 2006 a total of 4,251 permits. This was the 4th highest number of permits in a county. Allegheny (Pittsburgh) had 8,729, Westmoreland 4,779, and Bucks 4,451.

Comparing 2006 population estimates, Allegheny had 1,223,411 and its neighbor Westmoreland had 366,440, for a total of 1,589,851. Philadelphia County's population was estimated at 1,448,394.

Based on a population and permit comparison, Allegheny and Westmoreland issued 13,508 permits, over 3 times the number of permits issued in Philadelphia.

The number of murders in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties total considerably below 100.

You were treated like Ed Lavandella was regarding so-called "assault weapons" by Miami in 2004.

The "guns are the problem" is the only thing Philadelphia politicos have left to divert attention from generations of bad leadership.

Keep Philly honest. If you can, you have done something that nobody else has been able to do.

If this story were true, then the Phila. suburbs should also be a war zone.

Last time I checked it wasn't, and I live there.

Yes, of course they're lying. You know it's the Big Lie when they a) assert that CCW is driving all the crime yet b) fail to answer, or even ask, the obvious question: are the actual permit holders committing the crime? It's a matter of trivial public record. In fact, CCW holders are not committing any crime to speak of, so it's a contemptible bait and switch.

    Reporter Background

Kaye was a reporter for WCCO in Minneapolis before her new $$$$ CNN job. Local WCCO and Kaye are well known here for thier extreme liberal views. Minnesota is a breeding ground for socialism and liberal activists. I read, the first Marx communism based community in the USA was started in New Ulm, Minnesota.
