You said that the kids already have some problems. You've also said that at times you have to wrestle with the kids- which means they are presenting aggressive behavior. Since you have the option of carrying a weapon, I must assume that this isn't a detention facility- so the kids are coming in off the street. If that is the case I disagree with your decision.

It seems to me that you're just waiting for one of the kids to come in with a gun. Problem kids, some are aggressive- we've seen this before. Sadly, it hasn't always turned out well.

Of course, you're the one that's there. You have to do what you believe is right. None of us could, or should, make a decision for you. We can just look at what you said and decide what we would do. Knowing only what you've said in this thread, I'd be armed. If worrying about coworkers seeing the gun is that important, I'd turn to smart carry or my j frame in a pocket holster- but I wouldn't be unarmed in that environment.

Oops echo brings up a good point I should have clarified, it is a therapy program so in most cases they don't have a choice about being there but the good thing is every time we pick them up they aren't allowed any luggage and they have all been reissued clothing and completely searched. They don't know they are coming till the morning of when an "escort" shows up at about 3 am and they do the searching and clothing issuing. So that combined with airport security(searches and metal detectors)the chances of the kids having a weapon are very low.
