    Pennsylvania Carry Question

I have been carrying for about 7 years here in PA.
I renewed my permit (Delaware County) and received a pamphlet, in the mail, from the Sheriffs Office about Gun Permit Safety.
    It mentions about Transporting Firearms:
"If you are a licensed gun permit carrier in PA. you are permitted to transport your firearm in a motor vehicle, unloaded, cased and secured in the trunk...."

I thought that only applied to UN-licensed carriers?

It does. I would need to see the whole thing to be able to tell if that is a typo or if it is referring to another situation.

That pamphlet has been the subject of many threads at the PAFOA forum -- essentially the pamphlet is a compendium of fallacies and mistakes. Ignore it.

If you are legally licensed to carry a firearm in PA then you may carry that firearm loaded and concealed on your person in your vehicle in Pennsylvania.
You must have your valid license to carry with you on your person anytime you are carrying your firearm in PA.

Just remember that not all sheriffs are ex-cops. Some are just political hacks that had enough drag to get elected. The undersheriff is usually the smart one....

The instructor at the class I took is a LEO in PA and he told us not to apply for the permit in Delaware county because they were full of it. Said to go to Chester County because they followed the law and didn't make up stuff. I'm shocked that you even got a permit from them. I went to handgunlaws.com and they had a pdf file for an application from Centre County. That is where I just got my non-resident permit for PA. Much easier than getting my DE permit, where I live. Sounds like some political BS to me. A permit to carry applies to carrying in a car as well. Just throw that propaganda away. It means nothing. Just some yahoo trying to pass of thier opinion as law.

I was told the only time you can't have a loaded firearm in your vehicle is if you are spotlighting Deer.
