Found a loophole for myself for SC CWP:)

I got my sc dmv 10 year driving record... and it shows nothing:) maybe because I got my license transferred 2 weeks ago:), so all my tickets were on my Indiana DL..... I called Sled twice, and two other CWP instructors. and they said

Sled will only check my SC DL #, and will not check my old out of state drivers license.... They said they dont check OOS DL's unless I was active duty military... so I am good ot go then:)

    found a loophole:) so happy:)

Now keep your dirving record that way. I think that it has changed recently but for many years states did not share driving violations. I know od people who got their license suspended in SC and got a second one in GA. Illegal but it worked. I also know of a few people that got banned from driving in NC for various traffic violations but kept their SC license. As long as they didn't get caught in NC they were fine. Tne bad thing is the states now report all violations to your insurance company and in SC that can be much more expensive than a traffic fine.

Do I gather that in SC you can't have a suspended DL and keep your CCW license? I would assume you could just have a state ID couldn't you without driving?

The only time you need a license is when you're caught!

So wait...I'm still lost. If you have tickets on your DL record you can't get a CWP in SC?

Wow! That's a doozy. Remind me to not travel to SC anymore. They just entered my personal ban list. Do they say if it falls within a certain number of years period or just a blanket 6 tickets?

Since he said he got his 10 year driving record- I'd assume it must be within the last 10 years.

SC is a no go for me. They won't recognize an OK permit, don't recognize nonres permits, and won't issue a nonres permit. It is too bad, my wife is from SC and all of her family lives there. It is a pain staying in GA and having them come to us.

All you need is a SMALL piece of land in SC to get a permit. Ask in laws for a 1/8 acre and you can get SC permit.

    Really?? The DL requirements?

If someone is careless in operation of a possible deadly weapon (AKA: vehicle) why would you want them to have legal access to a firearm at all times?

Sure everyone speeds at some point, most get tickets, but 6 convictions in 5 years isn't something to brag about.

Also, in case you didn't know.... if you are ever ARRESTED for CDV, even if not convicted, you probably won't become an LEO. IS that asinine too?

I average one ticket every three years. Being that I'm on the road everyday and average 90 miles a day mininum in brutal traffic. Getting those tickets is inevitable. I'm not a bad driver I'm in the flock and happened to get plucked. This law is just another big brother foot on the throat tactic to infringe on someones rights AFAIC. I will not be moving to SC.
