Ohio permit holders...
I have recently moved, so my address has changed. Does anyone know if I need to get a new permit? I searched the Ohio Attorney General website, but couldn't find this info.

You need to contact the issuing sheriff's office to update the file; just like you do your D/L.

Cool. Thanks! I was surprised at the BMV when they told me I don't have to get a new driver's license...as long as the correct address is on file. I suppose I shouldn't be carrying until I get the info updated...though I have been.

No, you're good to go, you have x amount of days to change it. I dont know how long it is though.

But..if you want to get a new gun, the ID you use has to be a state issued ID with the correct address on it. And for more trivia, it also has to have a unique identification number and an expiration date.
When I moved almost two years ago I made sure that my CHL was the first thing I got updated. I waited until my birthday to get the DL updated as I had to get a new one anyway.

It would be within 45 days of the move.

I didn't realize that your gun make & model were tied to your CHL in Ohio, or did I miss something here???

It's not in Ohio!
I presume what he meant was if you wanted to go out and buy a new gun, you would need the proper address on your ID.

That makes sense. Is there a three day waiting period for a handgun in Ohio? Florida is three days, unless you have a CCW. Then it's pay your money and take it home!!!

No, Ohio has no waiting period for any firearm as long as you pass the NCIS check. Its walk in, wait for the phone call, slap down the cash, and walk out with your new acquisition.

Cool!! In that respect they are better than Florida. We have the 51% rule on eating establishments and hardly any place is posted. I guess I'll take those items over the waiting period.

Sorry for the confusion. When you buy a gun you are supposed to have your correct address on whatever State ID you are using. Even the Ohio CHL works in this respect. It has your name, address, birthdate, an expiration date and the unique number. You can carry anything at all, well it has to be a handgun of some type, and you don't have to get it okayed or off a list of allowable firearms. And no wait other than the NICS phone call and however long it takes to choose what you want and pay for it.

NICS phone call is a dice roll for a very small percent of legal to own people. a cop friend of mine can never get his purchase until the 3 day period is over, why?... cause there is a convict with the exact same name one county over...he laughs about it now, but that first time it happened, he was non to happy.
