Absolutley carry one in the chamber.
As a civillian I'm already behind the power curve; therefore, no safeties and it must go bang all the time every time. If I practice avoidance, and the reasonable man theory, and have to break leather I'm going to pull the trigger, and I will be reacting to a situation rather that acting on.
If you don't carry one in the chamber have somebody show you the tueller drill. After one sees that drill you start thinking about dumping all the safeties and the whiz bang devices hanging off the pistol. Stryker fired is good, Revolver is good, okay I like Sigs too.

Anyone who doesn't feel its safe to carry a gun with one in the chamber should not be carrying a gun.
Can't see CCW wih a gun I NEED two hands to fire. I wouldn't trust a gun that wasn't safe to carry fully loaded. If I was worried that it would "go off" with a round in the chamber, I wouldn't carry it. I have always trained that way. Can't think of a LEO agency that carries empty chamber. Not done in any competition I can think of.
Just a couple of reasons I could think of quick.

The only shooters who carry empty chamber are the actors on TV. TV execs don't think a gun is scary unless you hear the slide rack.:rolleyes:

I am not sure why one would ask such a question . I will however suggest that if carrying chambered makes you in the least uncomfortable that you go directly to the range and spend some quality time in a threesome with your handgun , you , and a competent instructor .
