    Close Friend Shot

I found out a few min ago that one of my best friends was shot during an armed robery in Tallahassee FL yesterday. My buddy works at Alltel and he told me a skinny crackhead looking guy walked into the store yesterday and started shooting with a .32, he didn't say anything just started shooting. When he started to reload my buddy ran for it and got away but he was hit by a ricochet in the shin during the first volley. He is recovering at home now and will be fine, other than the post traumatic stress. Nobody else was hurt. The bullet flatened out against his bone and the doctor dug it out and sent him home.
Now my friend is more or less a sheep but is seeing the light I offered to loan him any number of my guns but he is just too shaken up right now. The good news is I talked him into getting a licence and he wants my help picking out a weapon.
This has made me all the more diligent about packing anytime I am awake.
I just wanted to share and tell everyone to be on your toes this holiday season.

Tis the season for armed robberies.

This is a sad tale and i am glad it ended alright. I have to deal with anti-gun parents and i am afraid that nothing will convince them short of an experience like this.

I can only hope that the rest of the world realizes that being prepared is not being paranoid. We can laugh, cry, work our jobs, and play with our kids just like every one else. We just do it with a gun on.

Your friend is a brave person and he deserves praise for his actions.

As ever - anytime any place - we never know.

He was pretty lucky by sound of it - so do hope he thinks hard about taking responsibility for his own safety.

Probably the Alltel store has a policy of "cooperate with robbers" which does not anticipate the actual instant-shooting scenario. Your friend did the right thing by running.

Perp is at large and nobody else hit. The perp got away with some money but most transactions are with a credit card or check at Alltel so not much money to be had.
Alltel is paying for counseling but I don't know if he going back to work. Like I said he is very shaken up.

Glad to hear your friend will be alright and that nobody was seriously injured. It makes me sick when I hear of stories like this. Too bad someone in the store wasn't able to shoot back and stop that scumbag from doing this again.

I don't suppose the store was posted?? The crack head should have seen the sign.

I'm glad your friend is recovering...and hope this has caused him to re-evaluate his self-defense options.

I glad your friend came out so well.

Some of us just have to learn the hard way I'm afraid, but at least your friend is alive and has learned!

A very difficult type of scenario. A doped-up scumbag just walking up and beginning to shoot seemingly without warning, rhyme, reason, or motive.

Glad that your friend is OK. That could have turned out lots worse.
